-Taped from Berwyn, Illinois
-Your hosts are Phil Colvin and Derek St. Holmes
-We get a new open with new music and new highlights. We also learn that this events is rated “R” for “Real Wrestling Fans.” Better than TNA. They’re rated “R” for “Retarded.”
-Age of the Fall interview. It’s Tyler Black’s last independent wrestling match, and he wants to end the House of Truth before exiting. Jacobs provides the red herring for the evening. If Jacobs and Black retain, Jacobs can pick a partner to defend the titles.
-Chris Hall vs. Juice Robinson
Come on man. Chris Hall again? Robinson looks decent, but Hall dispenses him in short order. Robinson manages a vertical suplex which Hall no sells. Yeesh. Robinson slaps Hall, calls him stupid and fat, and gets nailed with a spinebuster. That was funny. Strikes and clotheslines before the straps come down. Back drop. Charge in the corner met with a boot. Hall catches him. Slingshot. Robinson goes for a crossbody. Roll of the dice neckbreaker thankfully ends this match.
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Chris Hall/4:34/1/2*
This match went about 4:30 too along.
-Clash wrestling, led by Cameron Skyy, introduce themselves to AAW. They want to restore honor and sanity to AAW. They don’t like the wrestlers or fans. Guess that makes them heels.
-Aeroform (Louis Lyndon and Flip Kendrick) vs. The Chan Clan (Jordan McEntyre and Knight Wagner w/Miss Eryn)
Back and forth between McEntyre and Kendrick to start.  Armdrag takes McEntyre to the outside. Wagner and Lyndon tag in. Kick to the midsection and a European uppercut. Boots in the corner. Lyndon flips out of a whip. Off the top rope with a rana. On the apron with a forearm. He sweeps under with his own leg. Another flip misses. Chop. Cover and McEntyre nails his own partner. Lyndon holds the top rope down so Wagner goes over. Dive by Lyndon hits. Face first into the buckles goes Wagner. Double kicks to the midsection. Shot to the back by Kendrick. More forearms. Double springboard dropkicks. Axehandle to the back. Miss Eryn holds Lyndon’s leg. Chase is on. Miss Eryn nearly kills herself on the floor. Back in the ring. Wagner hits a leg lariat. Heat segment on Lyndon. Double whip in the corner. McEntyre bulldogs Lyndon into Wagner’s knees. Legsweep and a kick to the face leads to a tag. Kendrick hits a crossbody. Off the ropes with a headscissors. Legsweep and a standing shooting star press. Forearms on McEntyre. Kick and a tiger driver from McEntyre. Two count. Forearms by Lyndon. Knee by McEntyre. Whip of Kendrick in the corner. Charge misses. Gets the boot up. Crossbody on his own partner. Lyndon in. Huge bicycle kick. Forearms and a kick to the gut. Kick by Lyndon. Whip in the corner. Nice moonsault by Lyndon leads to a three count.
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Aeroform/9:27/**
-Decent match between these two teams. Aeroform has really stepped up their game the last four months. The botches are becoming fewer. The offense is becoming crisper. Props to Lyndon and Kendrick for their improvement. Chan Clan has also gotten significantly better throughout 2010 as well. I know I’ve joked about them being jobbers and geeks, but they’re a fine undercard act for the company.
-Shane Hollister is getting ready to come back for a championship in AAW. Hmmm.
-Silas Young interview. He does a great job putting himself over while also demeaning Bryan Danielson for not coming to AAW on this evening. Kevin Harvey mouths off and nearly gets his butt handed to him. Jerry Lynn also had to back off out of a potential AAW title match because of a real life injury, which may end his career. Harvey announces Ricochet will challenge for Young’s AAW title. Jimmy Jacobs comes down to rudely interrupt Young. He wants a truce for one night only if for no other reason than to insure Black has a successful last night in AAW. Young agrees. Hmmm.
-Kevin Harvey finds members of Clash Wrestling sitting in the audience.  More of the same really. Cameron Skyy is excellent on the microphone. If he can go in the ring at all (and I’ve only seen one match of his at this point) he’ll be a top heel in AAW very quickly.
-ICW-ICWA Texarcana World Television Championship: Larry Sweeney (champion) vs. Krotch (w/Scarlett)
Sweeney cuts another incredible promo before this match. He goes after one fan in particular and even the referee can be seen laughing in the background. He attacks Krotch before the bell rings. Quick armdrag into a headscissors. He humps Sweeney. Ew. Sweeney claims shenanigans. Headlock. Off the ropes. They criss cross twice and Krotch stomps on his foot once and makes a humping motion that Sweeney sells. Comedy. Pair of punches. Snapmare and an elbow to the top of the head. Sit down splash for two. Shots to the back. Stungun by Sweeney. Choke along the middle rope. He goes after Scarlett. Krotch with a series of right hands. Sweeney sends Krotch  into the ring. Butterfly suplex. Fist drops. Back to stalking Scarlett. Krotch delivers more right hands. Sweeney sends Krotch into the guard rail. Bodyslam. Straps come down. To the top rope. Awkward elbow drop but Sweeney again goes after Scarlett. Slap to the face. Basement dropkick. Series of right hands. Off the ropes and a flying forearm. Leg drop. Irish whip. Krotch taken over. Springboard sit down splash. Charging back elbow. Broncobuster. Springboard dropkick. Sweeney misses a double sledge. Boot to the face. Roll-up while his feet are on the ropes. Sweeney gets the win
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: STILL Texarcana World television champion-Larry Sweeney/7:26/ *
-Not nearly as much fun as the previous month. A lot of it had to do with Dan Lawrence being a better worker than Krotch. Sweeney has never been a great in ring performer and the 14 month break did him no favors.
-Sweeney hits a low blow on Krotch. MsChif comes from behind and mists Sweeney.
-AAW Heritage Championship: Arik Cannon (w/Dave Prazak)(champion) vs. Samuray Del Sol
Bit of a feeling out process. Exchange of roll-ups. A messed up armdrag. Cannon hits a back elbow. Off the ropes and a dropkick by Del Sol. Big dive. Back in the ring but the referee is way out of position. Cannon pulls him down by the mask. Clothesline. Chinlock while raking the mask. Twisting vertical suplex gets two before Cannon chokes away. Del Sol tossed to the outside. Prazak works the challenger over a bit before tossing him back inside. Knuckle tie up. Del Sol goes up and over. Rana. Another rana attempt but Cannon drops his challenger down for two. Snapmare and a dropkick to the back of the head. Chop in the corner. Whip through. Del Sol back elbow. Cannon charges and is met with a  boot. Monkey flip but Del Sol lands on his feet. Armdrag. Cannon with a release German suplex right on top of Del Sol’s head. Jesus. Del Sol with a kick to the midsection. Up and over. He falls. Superkick. Off the ropes. Swinging neckbreaker gets two. Chops. Irish whip. Clothesline misses. Tornado DDT by Del Sol gets a nearfall. Shots to the back. Big right hands. Slingshot neckbreaker. Glimmering warlock. Referee counts three? What? Cannon hits a brainbuster. Referee counts three again.
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: STILL Heritage champion- Arik Cannon/8:34/*
-This was not one of Cannon’s strongest title defenses, and the referee messing up the ending did this match no favors. He counted three, and I’m not sure if Del Sol was supposed to kick out or what. Very awkward. Good call by Cannon to hit another move and get the pin. An even better move comes next.
-Prazak shouts about Cannon still being the Heritage champion. Prazak calls for the music to be shut off and he still wants to know where the competition is for Cannon. The champion demeans the referee for being a White Sox fan since he is from Minnesota and a Twins fan. Now Cannon went too far. Cannon says there is no competition. This brings out Shane Hollister. Cannon asks Hollister if he wants to fight for the Heritage title. Cannon gives Hollister a title match… RIGHT NOW!
-AAW Heritage Championship: Arik Cannon (w/Dave Prazak) (champion) vs. Shane Hollister
Series of forearms. Cannon gets a right hand and slingshot neckbreaker. Hollister counters the glimmering warlock into a roll-up. 1-2-3!!!! NEW CHAMPION!
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: NEW Heritage Champion-Shane Hollister/:27/N/R
-With the departure of Tyler Black, AAW desperately needed a new star, and although Hollister isn’t a new, he will be a crucial piece of the puzzle when it comes to AAW in 2011 and beyond. From a wrestling perspective, it might take a bit of time for him to get back in the swing of things, but I expect a lot improvement.
-Truth Martini doesn’t care about Black going to WWE or Jacobs’ return to the Eagles club. He just cares about the AAW tag team titles. Josh Raymond talks about this being the end of his feud with Tyler Black. Christian Able talks about injuring Jacobs and possibly injuring Black tonight. That would just be mean.
-Zero Gravity (Bret Gakiya and CJ Esparza) and Trik Davis vs. Chuck Taylor, Johnny Gargano, and Danny Duggan
Should just call the heel side FIST Jr. If I were to be on who would take the fall, I’d have been willing to bet my house on Duggan. Let’s see what happens. Some basic mat wrestling between Gargano and Davis to start. Control of the arm into a crucifix pin. Esparza in. Gargano shoves away and tags Duggan. He shows off his power on Esparza. Off the ropes. Esparza fails on a shoulder tackle. Tries again but no dice. A third time and Esparza knocks him down. Off the ropes and an armdrag by Duggan. Armdrag by Esparza. Hurancanrana. Forearm in the corner. Whip by Duggan. Tag to Gakiya. Double team by Zero Gravity. Front facelock. Duggan rips at his eyes. Taylor in. Elbow drop misses. Gakiya rolls over. Taylor sweeps and goes for a cover. Gakiya bridges out. Off the ropes. Big headscissors. Taylor powders. Duggan and Gargano from behind. Esparza and Davis save their partner. Taylor, Gargano, and Duggan outside the ring. Double fakes by Zero Gravity. Heels play “Paper, Scissors, Rock” to see who goes back in the ring. Duggan “wins.” Lock-up with Davis. Duggan pulls the hair. Kick to the midsection. Irish whip. Davis goes and under and pulls Taylor to the floor. Boot by Duggan. Cheap shots by Taylor and Gargano. Heat segment on Davis. We even get some dancing and stomping from the FIST members. Davis leaps over, headscissors Gargano into Taylor, and makes the hot tag to both members of Zero Gravity. They battle it out with the FIST members. Nice headscissors by Gakiya on Taylor. Double dropkick on Gargano. Enziguri. Messed up flippy cup on Taylor gets two. Duggan hits a twisting fisherman suplex on Esparza. Taylor catches Gakiya and tosses him. Dives on his own partner. Davis lawn darts Gakiya onto two men, then hits a headscissors on the floor on Gargano. Esparza with a dive of his own. It’s breaking down in Berwyn. Gargano and Davis in the ring. Koji clutch locked in. Gargano applies a twisting Boston crab. Lungblower by Davis leads to a crucix bomb and pin by Gakiya. Taylor breaks the count and focuses on Davis. Spear through the ropes by Gargano. Lionsault by Taylor gets two. Gargano lawn darts Davis into the middle ropes. Soul food by Taylor. Gargano drops Davis and gets two. Gakiya in. Taylor hits a superkick and uses a shoe that he stole from a child. Not kidding. Esparza tries diving. Double DDT by FIST. Duggan with double knees. 1-2-Davis and Esparza break the count. Double Irish whip. Taylor and Gargano up and over to the outside. Duggan with a lariat on Gakiya. Davis with a twisting stunner. Davis launches… tries to launch Gakiya for an assisted moonsault. Gakiya lost his balance but eventually jumped into his partners arms for the assist. Shooting star elbow on Duggan gets three.
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Zero Gravity and Trik Davis/18:17/***1/4
-Not as good as previous six man tag team matches on these AAW/DG USA shows. A lack of chemistry hurt the match early. Thankfully, some of the sloppiness settled down, and we got a fairly good match. Of course Duggan was indeed the one to take a fall. More importantly, Zero Gravity picked up another huge win on their way to a potential AAW tag team championship match.
-Dan Lawrence vs. Darrin Corbin
No Nikki. No Ryan Cruz. Corbin comes out all by himself to wrestle a guy who’s on quite the winning streak in AAW. A fairly basic match coming out of intermission. Pretty obvious who was going to win from the get go, but I think they picked the right guy to go over. Lawrence crotches Corbin on the top rope. Crossbody misses from the top. Corbin dropkicks him to the outside. Choking on the guard rail. Right hand exchange. Back in the ring. Choking on the middle rope. Elbows to the midsection by Lawrence. Corbin drops his knees and gets two. Stomp in the corner. Left hand punch. Snapmare. Elbow drop misses. Another elbow drop misses. Stomp by Corbin. A third elbow drop misses. Lawrence ducks and hits a chop. Back fist. Clothesline misses. Lawrence with chops. To the ropes. Lawrence takes Corbin over to the outside. Somersault plancha. Charging forearm. Right hand. Lawrence asks for a beer. A fan responds in kind. Corbin sends Lawrence’s back into the post. Corbin heads to the top. Axehandle is met with a boot. Shoulder tackle by Lawrence. Tornado DDT gets two. Ten punches in the corner. Hotshot by Corbin. Lariat misses. Into the ropes groin first goes Corbin. Lawrence gets a roll-up for three.
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Dan Lawrence/9:44/*1/2
-Probably could have shaved a couple minutes off the match, but this certainly wasn’t offensive or anything. Not sure where they’re headed with Darrin Corbin though.
-Joey Eastman walks out to confront a man that he formerly managed. The Northstar Express, along with Eastman as their manager, were two time AAW tag team champions. Eastman misses Corbin and has been trying to call him a lot recently. Corbin talks about all the things wrong with his life. No partner. No girlfriend. On a losing streak. Yeesh. Corbin says when Eastman left, there was a void. Well, this is getting a little gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Corbin walks away. Truth Martini comes out to confront Eastman. He’s not happy about Eastman interfering in HoT business. Eastman says he’s not a gentlemen and that Truth is being premature. Cheap pop as he puts over Black and Jacobs. Martini talks about guiding the greatest tag team in AAW history to the belts. Eastman talks about wanting to guide individuals toward those same belts. Martini puts himself over and everything he understands. The one thing he doesn’t understood is why he’s talking with Eastman at this point. Eastman gets a low blow. Straps come down. House of Truth from behind. Beatdown ensues. Martini delivers a shot with “The Book of Truth” as Eastman gets beaten down a second straight month.
-Mason Beck (w/Val Malone) vs. Jeff Brooks
Brooks comes out to deafening silence. He’s ready for a fight and a match. Phil Colvin wonders what the deal is with the foam finger. Brooks throws his pants to start the match. Beck quickly gets on the offensive. Welcome to squash city. Population: Jeff Brooks. Splash mountain gets Beck the victory in quick fashion.
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: Mason Beck/4:04/*
-Not quite sure where they’re headed with Beck, but he’s getting himself over with the crowd ever so slowly. Just an excuse for Beck to kill someone in about five minutes.
-Dan Lawrence talks about vanquishing his opponent in short order (lie) and looking ahead to once again facing the AAW heavyweight champion.
-AAW Heavyweight Championship: Silas Young (champion) vs. Ricochet
Amazing to think that the night before Ricochet became a superstar for DG USA, he’s challenging (and most likely losing) his first AAW match, which just happens to be for the world title. I guess this put over Silas even more with hindsight being what it is. Lock-up goes to the corner. Young breaks clean and mocks the fans with his clapping. Grabs the arm and hits a snapmare. Roll-up by Ricochet. Off the ropes and an armdrag. Ricochet grabs the arm. Young flips around and slaps him in the face. Off the rope. Dropkick hit by Ricochet. Young to the outside. Dive met with a right hand by Young. Ricochet no sells and hits the dive. Brawl on the outside. Ricochet goes for a dive off the guard rail, but Young rips him down. Another slam into the guard rail. Stomps. Ricochet takes him in the corner. Young rams him into the opposite corner. Young talks some trash. Ricochet with a kick. Young stomps him down. Gordbuster. Bodyscissors. Elbows break the hold. Chinlock by Young. Ricochet hits an axehandle. Young drops Ricochet on his face. Kick and pair of right hands by Ricochet. Tilt a whirl gutbuster by Young gets two. Another shot to the midsection. Kick to the lower back. Another shot to the midsection. Stomp to the head. Young has really slowed the pace of this match. Ricochet goes for a backslide driver. Spins around and gets a tornado DDT. Young misses a charge. Ranaand a headscissors by Ricochet. One footed kick. Cannonball for two. Chinbreaker by Young. Right hand. Ricochet ducks and hits an enziguri. Back and forth. Young tosses Ricochet out of the corner. O’Connor roll leads to a kick and standing senton by Ricochet. Young tosses the challenger outside. Ricochet has a beverage. Shoulder tackle back in the ring. Leaping kick. Backbreaker/clothesline combination. 1-2-NO! Finlay roll but Ricochet into a forward roll-up. Finlay roll. Springboard moonsault misses. Twisting splash off the second rope misses. Strike exchange. Ricochet off the ropes. Big boot by the champin. 360 round kick by Ricochet. Finlay roll. Springboard moonsault. 1-2-NO! Young hooks… End time? Jacobs would not be pleased. Ricochet taps immediately.
-Winner (s)/Time/Rating: STILL heavyweight champion-Silas Young/15:25/***1/2
-Very good match as always. Silas Young might have one of the most underrated title reigns of 2010. He’s been consistently great regardless of who the opponent was. I enjoyed this match because Young worked his slow pace, and Ricochet did a great job conforming to the champion’s style. Every champion has a style or flow to the way their title defenses go. Young’s title defenses tend to be on the slower side, but there is more build-up to moves. It’s not just guys doing moves and kicking out of finishers. It’s something almost unique to indy wrestling and is probably why Young isn’t a bigger star on the indies.
-AAW Tag Team Championship: Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs vs. House of Truth (Josh Raymond and Christian Abel w/Truth Martini)
After five years of traveling up the roads to Berwyn, it all comes down to this for Tyler Black. An enormous ovation before the match as the crowd shows its appreciation for someone who’s almost become one of their own. Jacobs and Able start. Able tosses Jacobs out of a lock-up. Series of punches and stomps in the corner.  Jacobs turns it around with stomps of his own. Able tags Raymond. Armbar. Scoop slam. Jacobs mocks him and gets a bodyslam of his own. Raymond powders. Martini calls a timeout. Black tags to wrestle his long-time foe Raymond. Knee and shot to the back by Raymond. Takes Jacobs out. Headlock and off the ropes. Raymond to the outside. Jacobs delivers a right hand. Black gets a dropkick off the ropes. Into the turnbuckle head first. Pair of stomps. Tag to Jacobs. Double choke.  Raymond with a jawbreaker. Able tags in and uses a series of strikes. Rakes the face with his boots. Jacobs catches Able in the midsection. Double leg takedown leads to a series of punches. Axehandle on Able. Snapmare into a kick in the back. Punch and into the corner with shoulder tackles. Vertical suplex attempt. Able hits a vertical suplex. Knee to the back. Chops. Black responds in kind with chops of his own. Raymond with a clothesline. Legally tags in and stomps away. Back suplex but Black turns it into a crossbody. Shoulder tackle takes Raymond down. -Winner (s)/Time/Rating: NEW tag team champions- House of Truth/23:41/****1/4
-Even after seeing this a second time, this match was unbelievably great. Some great counters. Great drama. Everything about this match was great. How anyone could not love all four of these men is beyond me. Jacobs and Black are undoubtedly two of the best professional wrestlers in the United States, and the House of Truth aren’t that far away from also being the best. I’d place this as the second best match of 2010 for AAW because of the run-in. But this is a must see match for every indy fan. An easy thumbs up on the DVD for this match.
-Tyler Black cuts a gracious speech and shows himself to be a humble, relaxed. Congrats to Tyler for escaping the land of high school gyms and armories. May you soon be wrestling on my television while wrestling in front of 70,000 fans at some point soon. It was also good to see Black gets props and applause in front of the crowd. P.S. Ring of Honor fans, THIS is how you show appreciation toward Tyler Black.
-Shane Hollister talks about chasing the AAW Heritage title for nine months. He talks about what the belt means to both himself and the company. He vows to have a long title reign and get better. I can see Hollister growing with this belt over the next few months.
-Josh Raymond says good-bye to Tyler Black. Able says House of Truth are the best tag team in AAW. Ain’t no one going to stop them. If only that were true.  Martini cackles. Raymond quotes Freddy Mercury. Hell of a way for him to end his own AAW career.
-Sweeney talks about having one career and not knowing what to do with himself. The only way to describe this promo is disturbingly great. A match with MsChif is hinted. Very long promo too.
-Jimmy Jacobs was wrong about Silas Young and he’s mad at himself. He says his days of playing mind games are over. He lays down the gauntlet for the AAW title at the October show. Tick tock. Tick tock.
Final Thoughts: If for no other reason than the main event, this is a thumbs up DVD. There’s some dead weight on both halves of the show, but the last two matches elevate what was turning out to be a weak show. This isn’t as good as the previous two DG USA shows, but there’s a lot of historical importance attached with this show. Not to mention Silas Young putting together a really solid title defense against Ricochet. Hope AAW can build new stars and replace someone who’s without question the biggest star they’ve ever had.

  1. Sucks that Josh Raymond just retired out of the blue. Really liked his stuff. Saw him live in Louisville, teaming with Abel and Roderick Strong against Aries and the All Night Express. He hit a corkscrew moonsault to the floor that was AMAZING. Hard to believe two of the guys in that match are gone from ROH now. Word is Raymond’s replacement in the House of Truth will be Michael Elgin.
