LWA presents “US VERSES THEM 2” ~ 5/15/2010

So why I am reviewing the second one first and not the first one first, well because that is how I roll. No, that is just the latest DVD I got from one of the bigger local promotions in my area, known as LWA (Lethal Wrestling Alliance). They are a St. Louis, MO based promotion that is trying to bring something new and rejuvenate the pro wrestling scene in what was once considered one of the richest area’s for pro wresting. LWA had been running for 7 years now and has been through a lot in those 7 years. There has been plenty of wrestler’s strolling through the promotion as well, but this DVD I wish to cover was one of their last bigger shows with quite a few well known names on the card. With names like Arik Cannon, Claudio Castagnoli, and El Generico this should get the interest of a few people out there.
Now to get in to some current news in here, what you may want to know is that LWA no longer exists under this name anymore. They have recently switched over and became partners with an strong promotion out of Texas known as Anarchy Championship Wrestling. LWA is now known officially as ST. LOUIS ANARCHY. With the name change comes a lot of great things for the promotion and to the St. Louis area, and I will be the first to tell you following their debut show on January 8, 2011 they definitely have my attention.
Now without further ado I want to go over this release from the former LWA, and hopefully show you guys the potential that is coming up in the St. Louis area.
First match on the DVD is Pierre Abernathy vs. Billy McNeil
This match has an odd stipulation coming forth into the match with Abernathy and Adam Raw being forced to wear dresses to and in the ring, but if Abernathy loses tonight he will be forced to kiss Adam Raw. Abernathy prides himself on being a submission expert and McNeil comes in relying on his speed and quickness. McNeil will shape the pace of the match early on would keep the match in his favor until he would get a unwanted birds eye view up-skirt shot of Abernathy. This would lead to some comedic moments and put Abernathy in charge of the match. Abernathy would get in a few submission holds and keep McNeil grounded because once McNeil gets a split second on his feet it is going to cost Abernathy big time. It doesn’t take too much longer and that indeed happens with McNeil lands a chin breaker and then puts Abernathy down on the mat and lands a beautiful handspring Moonsault off of the ropes which leads to a 2 count. Adam Raw quickly jumps into the ring and has some words for McNeil because he does not want to have to kiss Abernathy. This distraction though doesn’t turn out as planned as Abernathy goes for the sneak attack but inadvertently misses McNeil and hits Raw. Abernathy realizes what just happened, but before he can really react to where McNeil is at he gets caught in a modified roll-up for the 3 count. This is now bad for Abernathy and Raw as they will have to kiss in the center of the ring. Both are in disbelief that they have to do this, but things are halted as the other member of the submission squad Evan Gelistico stops the “Kodak” moment.
Gelistico has some words to say for his fellow group members and talks up his match tonight against “Spitfire” Davey Vega for the LWA Championship.
To rank this match I would have to give it a [*1/2] they didn’t bring nothing new to the table, but it was an alright opening contest with some comedic moments and a cool spot from McNeil.
Next up is a 4 way match between Jeremy Wyatt vs. Matt Cage vs. Darrin Corbin vs. Dan Walsh
Wyatt is a former champion in LWA as well and has a history in the STL area in general. Cage is an up and coming wrestler who has been trained by the likes of Elix Skipper & Curtis Hughes in the Atlanta area and has been traveling looking to make a name for himself. Corbin is probably familiar to most who follow indy wrestling as he has wrestled in Chikara and is a part of the The Northstar Express with Ryan Cruz. Now Walsh on the other hand may be known to a completely different audience as he was a contest on MTV’s Road Rules several years back. Wyatt and Corbin start the match off with Wyatt being known as one of the most hated wrestlers in the LWA and Corbin coming off as the comedy act/keeping the matches fun kind of wrestler. Wyatt is also a technically but is quickly shown that Corbin is as well as he takes it to the injured wrist of Wyatt. Some arm control from Corbin with a well placed stomp and some shades of The Undertaker with some Old School as well. Matt Cage and Dan Walsh get into the ring and after some showboating moments Cage takes the early advantage. Walsh though bounces back and shows his experience over and even go4es for an early pin following a floatover Veritcal Suplex. The only goes for a 2 as Walsh stays on charge and tries to go for another vertical suplex. This time around Cage revereses the attempt into his own verticl suplex. He then follows this up with a bit of a strut and lands a solid elbow to Walsh. Walsh manages to kick out at a 2 and both men get to their feet and begin brawling. Walsh gets Cage in the corner and begins to land some solid punches. Wyatt tries to enterject himself from the apron, but he is met with an blow from Walsh. Walsh turns around after hitting Wyatt but the small distraction was all that needed to happen as Cage goes in on the attack. Walsh is down and can’t get back up to his feet. Cage makes the tag to Wyatt and they both begin to keep Walsh from turning the match around with Cage and Wyatt working over Walsh. Corbin meanwhile is in the opposite corner trying to play mind games on Wyatt. Wearing Wyatt’s entrance gear and taunting him as well. Wyatt finally charges and Corbin and tries to shut him up. Cage finally gets back into the match and he moves Walsh out from the corner after delivering a few well place European Uppercuts and a seated Headlock as well. Cage gets Walsh to his feet and lands a Gutwrench Ribbreaker on Walsh which definitely looked to leave a mark on him. Walsh gets a quick counter pin on Cage, but it doesn’t get him the pin and Cage quickly capitalizes and keeps the control in his favor. Wyatt gets tagged in and keeps the pain flowing with some stomps and and slingshot stomp as well. Wyatt lands a sidebreaker and wrenches on Walsh. Cage comes back in and keeps the control over Walsh’s ribs. Walsh finally frees himself from the clutches of Cage, but is met with a solid calf kick. In comes Wyatt again, and they are keeping the damaga coming. You definitely got to think that Walsh is getting a bit tired being in the match for this long. Walsh and Wyatt get into a neckbreaker hold situation but finally Walsh musters up some strength and overpowers Wyatt into a Neckbreaker. This is the opening that he needed as he tags in Corbin. Corbin comes in and starts cleaning house. Lands a DDT on Cage. Corbin hooks Cage’s head while Walsh comes back into the match. Corbin throws a bit at Walsh but it is caught. Corbin still has Cage’s head in a lock as Walsh throws Corbin up and Corbin lands a Backflip Neckbreaker (Sliced Bread #2) to Cage. Walsh then tries to hook Corbin with his pattented Pumphandle slam but Corbin slips out. Corbin hits the ropes and tries to land a cross body, but Walsh catches him and throws him over with a Fallaway Slam. Wyatt is in and hooks Walsh and hits him with a Fisherman’s Buster. Cage is back up now, hits Wyatt with a rolling elbow then lands a Backdrop Sitout Powerbomb. Wyatt though rolls out the ring while Corbin is on the top rope and dives and lands a Crossbody to the seated Cage. All them men are down following this set.
All the men get to their feet and Corbin and Walsh trade shots, they both end up in the ropes but Walsh pushes Corbin back, he rolls, but Wyatt is there to catch him and launches him out of the ring like a torpedo right at Cage who is outside the ring. Wyatt and Walsh are in the ring. Wyatt seems to be going for something as both men swing around each other and out of nowhere Wyatt hook Walsh and lands a Lightning Spiral. The spelled the end for a battered Walsh who is then pin for the 1, 2, 3 by Wyatt.
This was definitely a descent match in my opinion, though a lot of the ring time was spent with Walsh in the dog pin. The ending was done alright, with it making sense that Walsh would lose after the beating he took. In the end I would give it a [***], definitely a good early match for the LWA and hopefully it a sign for some even better stuff to come from the later matches.
Up next on the DVD we have an LWA Tag Team Championship match as the champions “Glamour Inc.” Matt Sydal & Brandon Aarons take on “The Hooligans” Mason & Devon Cutter. The match starts quickly as soon as the bell rings and tha action spills to the outside. The Hooligans bring in to the champions showing good shades of athleticism though both being thicker wrestlers and go for the first fall. Aarons kicks and soon following Glamour Inc get the flow off the match on their side. Sydal and Aarons keep Mason on their side of the ring and deliver some descent team play. Glamour In keeps Mason stuck in the center of the ring and Sydal gets some cheap shots in while Aarons has the sleeper and body scissors locked in. Devon wants to get in the ring to stop the double teaming that is going on but every time he steps in the ring the ref is ther to cut him off and in turn keeping the doubling teaming coming from the other side. Evenutally Mason is able to fight himself to his feet and makes the hot tog to his partner Devon. It’s The Hooligans time for pay back as they deliver their own double team move with Devon landing a backbreaker and holdin him as Mason comes flying off the top rope with a double stomp. They both try to go for the pinfall to end this, but Aarons get stops the pin and delivers a devastating sleeper suplex to Mason. Devon gets laid out as Sydal pulls off a clean standing Moonsault and almost gets the fall. Aarons tries to follow up but Mason makes quick work of him and Devon hooks Sydal in a wheelbarrel and Mason finishes the double team maneuver off with a Diving DDT from the second rope. With that move The Hooligans pick up the 1,2, and 3 and there are new champions crowned tonight.
Another OK match, both teams showed continuity and worked well. The matched seemed to have had an off timing with it seeming to be over just as fast as it began. Not really a build up to the finish it just sort of happened. I guess I was expecting a bit more work from both teams to close out the match, but a solid move led to the 1,2,3. So an almost dominant finish from the Hooligans it turned out to be. [**1/2]
Shorty Biggs cs. Arik Cannon
The first “Us vs. Them” match of the night pitting two smaller guys who have a huge fight them in them. I have seen Shorty in the ring for years now and he shows skill and promise and makes up for what he lacks in size by showing he is technical and talented as they come. Cannon almost doesn’t need a rundown but he is known all around the USA in the Indy scene from DGUSA, ROH, WSX and IWA-MS. This match starts off strong and both guys match up well in the early goings. Shorty and Cannon go for the quick falls and show some descent change wrestling. Even the announcers said that these two are almost identical from their ring attire down to their build. Both men stop and have a hand shake in the middle of the ring, but that quickly turns to disrespect from Cannon and he takes charge of the math and gets Shorty down for another fall, but doesn’t get the fall. Cannon picks Shorty up to his feet and delivers a solid Vertical Suplex but yet again only gets a near fall. Cannon gets Biggs in a corner and lands some solid chops to the chest of Shorty. Cannon whips Shorty across to the other corner and charges, but is met with a boot to the face. Cannon tries the charge again but Shorty this time with a Double boot. Cannon doesn’t learn and charges again, this time Shorty goes for the kick, but Cannon is aware and throws Shorty’s feet over the top rope and lands a solid Drop to Shorty’s back and he is tied up in the ropes. Cannon is now in full control and feeds on the crowds boo’s. Cannon throws Shorty outside of the ring and lands a Plancha over the ropes onto Shorty. He then goes back to taunting the crowd on the outside, this appears to be his mistake because once he tries to get back in the ring Shorty kicks the second rope and catches Cannon between the legs. Shorty then follows this up with a Backdrop lift to a slam. Shorty goes for the fall but Cannon kicks out at 2. Both men get to their feet and Shorty takes charge landing a series of punches and finishes it off with a running diving clothesline and gets a near fall. Both men are up and begin the fight again. Both bounce of the ropes trying to take charge, but Cannon side steps a clothesline attempt and hooks Shorty in with a Solid Swinging Neckbreaker. Both men are down and are trying to get to their feet. Both get up at the same time and Cannon attempts to go fist to fist with Shorty but Shorty blocks and hits him back. Cannon finally lands a good shot in and begins a series of running clotheslines and hits a well placed running back elbow and then a few more clotheslines. Shorty gets back up to his feet but Cannon this times hooks Shorty and drops him down an, almost Sheer Drop, Exploder Suplex. Cannon with the cover though only gets another near fall. Cannon drags Shorty to the corner and stomps on Shorty a couple times for good measure. Cannon signals he is going for an aerial maneuver and jumps to the second rope and flips back into a Moonsault, but Shorty is not there. Cannon goes up against the corner, but Shorty meets and begins his attack and ending it with a running hip attack with Cannon seated in the corner. Shorty takes his time but goes for the cover, and he gets a near fall. Both men are up and Shorty looks to be going for a backdrop setup move, but Cannon blocks the attempt. Cannon taunts and hits the ropes, but Shorty with a Sky High Sitout Spinebuster and a near fall. Both men get to their feet again and Cannon hits a loud popping Enzuigiri. Shorty swiftly meets him back with one of his own and Cannon to the outside. The ref to the outside to check on Cannon and out comes Donovan Ruddick. Shorty turns around and is met to the face with a pair of brass knucks. Cannon crawls back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Shorty somehow manages to kick out. Cannon though sensing that it is almost over hits a couple more punches and signs over Shorty’s fate following a Brainbuster.
All in all and enjoyable match, probably the best match so far when it comes to a descent amount of action mixed with two guys looking to fight. [***]
Next match is up following an video backstage of a Shorty interview backstage and this one is for the LWA Heavyweight Championship Match as “Spitfire” Davey Vega faces “Submission Squad Member” Evan Gelistico. Gelistico gets cocky early on and slips out of the ring, but Vega looks to be not wasting anytime as he plants a Front Flip Plancha over the top rope and takes Gelistico off of his feet. Vega then grabs a near by trash can and throws it at his opponent. Vega then carries Gelistico’s around the building and Vega pretty much has everyone and even some kids take a good shot at Gelistico. I have to go with the announcers on this one, you would think that this would be a DQ, but one thing you should know about the LWA and now STL Anarchy as that once the wrestler’s are in the audience all bets are off. Vega finally throws Gelistico into the ting and goes for the cover for the count of 2. Things finally turn for Gelistico and he lands a backdrop and then follows that up with a Vertical Suplex. Gelistico turns his back on Vega instead of going for the cover to taunt towards the fans and Vega is going to have none of that as he charges and hits Gelistico. Vega didn’t seem to have much behind that blow though as he is still felling the effects of the early slams and Gelistico lands a solid boot. Vega is down as Gelistico continues the hurt as he stands on the back of Vega. He follows that up with a backbreaker and then drills Vega in the back with a both his knees. Gelistico picks up Vega and lands a Sideslam and keeps the move held as he goes for the pin. He gets only a near fall and Gelistico picks up Davey to his feet, hits a solid elbow, and whips Vega into the ropes. Gelistico puts his head down but Vega Sunset Flips Gelistico though Gelistico over flips and manages to roll all the way over to block the pin. Vega is ready and goes for a Vertical Suplex attempt. Vega though is still feeling pain in his back as he cannot commit to the move. Gelisto goes for a suplex of his own, but Vega rotates down and rolls his Gelistico into a school boy. Gelistico manages to kick out. Vega tries to go for a spinning clothesline, but Gelistico get underneath it and runs Vega into the corner. He whips Vega across to the other corner, Vega jumps up and sits himself on the top turnbuckle. Gelistico charges and is met with a boot from Vega. Gelistico comes back a second time but then grabs the foot of Vega and yanks him off of the top rope. Vega lands on that hurt back and Gelistico goes for the pinfall, but only gets a 2 count. Gelistico sets Vega over the second rope and the steps up onto the the back of Davey continuing the punishment to his back. Gelistico makes his way to the ropes and jumps and hits a double stomp to the back of Davy while he is still in the ropes. Gelistico goes for the cover, but Vega is too close to the ropes and stops the fall from happening. Vega finally starts to wake up and starts calling for the fans in attendance to get on his side. Gelistico though hits and elbow and then Irish whips Vega. Gelistico aims for a clothesline on the rebound but Vega hooks and lands a Hurricanrana. Gelistico gets to his feet and gets in the corner but Vega is fired up now and charges and lands a solid running forearm. Vega aims to go for it again, but Gelistico counters and sets up Vega with a pumphandle and throws Vega overhead with a slam. Gelistico goes for the cover but again only a near fall. Gelistico grabs one of the legs of Vega and hooks in a single leg crab in the middle of the ring. Vega fights the move off but Gelistico with a dropkick to Vega’s face. Gelistico continues to taunt Vega and then picks hum up to his feet and hooks in a Fisherman’s Suplex for a near fall. Gelistico not looking to waste more time picks up once again gets Vega to his feet. Vega begins to fight back and Gelistico hits him back. Vega with a Double Knee Chinbreaker that puts Gelistico in the corner. Vega goes to the corner across and charges, but no one is home as Vega crashes into the turnbuckle and lands on his upper back on the ring. Gelistico picks Vega up and looks to be going for another pumphandle maneuver. Vega counters out of it and goes for a discus lariat, but Gelistico counters and locks Vega in with a modified wrenching crossface. Vega looks to have no where to go, but somehow he begins to fight the hold. Vega looks to try to get to his feet but flips Gelistico over to what looks to be a pin but opts out of it and continues the floatover to a submission hold of his own. Gelistico tries to block with his arms, but Vega locks in an Anaconda Vice. Gelisitco somehow gets free and hooks in an armbar. He can’t cinch it in all the way as Vega rolls and has Gelistico’s shoulders to the mat. The ref counts but Gelistico let’s go of the hold to save himself. this in turn leaves his legs open and Vega locks in a Texas Cloverleaf. Gelistico manages to get to the ropes and the hold is broken. Both men take a break and try to regroup themselves, but as soon as Gelistico is to his feet he once again looks to be going for the discuss lariat. Gelistico ducks again and drills Vega in the face with a solid right hand. To make things worse Gelistico had a chain in his hand that he manged to put in his hand during the breather. Gelistico with the cover 1,2.. but somehow Vega kicks out. Gelistico showing his frustration goes outside and throws a chair in the ring. He roll back in and looks to put it to good use as Jeremy Wyatt grabs the chair from Gelistico’s hand before he could make the swing. Gelistico turns around to see Wyatt, but Vega grabs him and drops him to the mat with a backdrop. Gelistico bounces his to his feet following the slam, but is met with the Discuss Lariat. Vega covers and successfully defends his LWA Championship.
This match had some descent and promising moments, but also fell to some very slow and off key ones as well. Vega shined the most in this match and definitely gave himself a notch to add to his defense. [**1/2]
“The Future” Donovan Ruddick vs. “Very European” Claudio Castagnoli
The next Us vs. Them match-up is seeing two tall and strong men facing off in the LWA ring. Both men start the match trying to match power with power with some standing armlocks and a test of strength. The action doesn’t stay in the ring for far tool long as Ruddick gets knocked out the ring and gets hit with a suicide dive from Claudio. Ruddick stays on his feet following the dive and this leads to Ruddick and Claudio pounding each other around the building. Claudio even lands a solid chop off of the bar that is in the building. Claudio putts Ruddick back in the ring and the action stays in the control of Claudio. Ruddick though with a thumb to the eyes of Claudio and then hits a big boot that takes Claudio off of his feet. Ruddick is not in control and gets Claudio in the corner and begins choking him with his boot. A few more big shots from Ruddick and Claudio is reeling. Claudio tries to fight back but Ruddick showing that he is a strong man and plants Claudio with a big scoop slam and then a Sidewalk Slam. Ruddick with the cover but he only manages to get a 2 count. Ruddick goes back to the attack and chokes Claudio in the ropes. Claudio again tries to fight back but Ruddick slams his back in the corner a couple of times and then locks in a bear hug. Claudio finally musters up the strength to fight the hold and starts building some momentum. Ruddick catches Claudio from a Crossbody attempt and throws him up to his shoulders (what a great showing of strength from Ruddick). Claudio fights his way off of his shoulders and continues fighting back. Ruddick shows his fight as he takes the shots and seems to ask for more from Claudio. Ruddick misses a clothesline attempt and Claudio lands a beautiful Springboard European Uppercut. Claudio with a few more European Uppercuts and then gets Ruddick off of his feet and puts the big man into a patented Big Swing. Claudio pumps himself up and drills Ruddick with an Axe Kick and goes for the cover. Ruddick somehow kicks out but Claudio does not try to let too much time slip by as he quickly hooks his opponents arms and looks to be going for the Ricola Bomb. Ruddick fights the move and puts Claudio again onto his shoulders. Claudio once again fights the hold and both men go back and forth into the corner. Claudio tries to go for a bounce off the ropes but Ruddick catches Claudio one again onto his shoulders. This time Claudio cannot fight the hold and Ruddick with a Rolling Fireman’s Carry Slam. He goes for the pin, but Claudio kicks out right before the count of 3. Ruddick once again shows his strength as he gets Claudio onto his shoulder and gets him into a Reverse Crucifix position. Claudio fights the move and hits Ruddick square in the back with a forearm. Claudio tries to hold his opponent, but Ruddick still appears to be too strong and once again over powers him. Claudio fights and blocks a gut buster attempt and delivers a low European Uppercut to Ruddick. Claudio finally seems to have the momentum on his side and quickly gets his arms around Ruddick’s waist, while he is on the ground, and swiftly lands a Bridging German Suplex. Claudio manages to get a two count with the move. Ruddick finally gets to his feet and tries to throw an attack at Claudio, but he ducks and Ruddick gets rolled up in a school boy. Ruddick kicks out at 2. Claudio get to his feet and picks up Ruddick and looks to aims to deliver the Ricola Bomb. Claudio gets the big men up, but it is fought off. Ruddick capitalizes and once again over powers Claudio gets him onto his shoulders and lands a big Inverted Crucifix Slam which gives Ruddick the 1,2,3.
This was a descent match-up and both men matched-up, at least I thought, fairly well. Ruddick got the nod in the match and it really has boosted his career in 2010. At the end of 2010, Ruddick was signed to the WWE and was given a spot on the FCW Roster, and just recently he is now listed under the new alias DT Porter. I would have to say about about a [***] match.
It is now Main event time as Gerald James takes on “The Generic Luchadore” El Genercio and the winner gets title shot for the LWA Championship. Another match where both men look pretty much even next to one another in build in size. Both men know how to be technical in the ring and both are known to bring the fight as well as the high flying. The match starts with a built of back and forth and then James tries to play the mind games with some taunts toward the Genric One. After a bit of showmanship, both lock up and the match starts to speed up a little bit. James quickly gets overwhelmed and makes a break to the outside to regroup himself. James gets back in the ring and hooks a headlock on Genrico, but that almost does nothing as Generico gets free and dumps James to the outside. At this time James’ “mother” gets up on the ringside and taunts Genrico. This opens a spot for James, but Generico shows his ring presence and dumps him out on the other side of the ring. Generico sees an opening and gets ready for his pattented dive to the outside. Generico hits the ropes, but now James “father” interjects himself and trips up Generico. This gives the opening to James who gets back in the ring then chokes his opponent on the second rope. James then with an elbow and whips Generico to the corner and hits him with a double chop. Then follows that up with a snapmare to a seated dropkick. James with the cover but Genrico quickly kicks out. James then begins to choke Generico and sets up a distraction for the ref as he dumps Generico outside the ring where his “father & mother” begin to whoop up on Generico. It then turns into a 3 on 1 as James joins in as well. James get Generico back into the ring and lands a floatover vertical suplex. The move doesn’t get the job done as both men get up and trade blows. James hits a low blow and sets Generico up in the corner. James takes too lon go to showboat as Generico comes at him with a charge and hits a clothesline. Generico wastes no time as he Irish Whips James and lands a back body drop. James rolls to the outside following the move. Generco goes to the ropes to grab James, but James with a hotshot, forcing Generico’s neck to hit the top rope. Now Generico is on the outside while James gets back in the ring. James’ family hold Generico as James is setting up for a Plancha. James is in the air, but Generico slips out of the grip and James crashes into his family. Generico is back in the rig and signals that he is ready yo take a dive. He hits the ropes and Front Flip Dive over the top rope and the entire family is down. Both men get back into the ring, but Generico to the top rope and lands a big Crossbody on to James for the cover. James somehow kicks out at 2. James gets into the corner and Generico senses it is time for an Ole Kick, but James sees catches Generico and pegs him in the head with his boot. James tries to jump and Generico, but Generico side steps it and uses the momentum to land a Spin-out Powerbomb and almost gets the 3 count. Both men seem to be running out of ideas, but James ends up on the outside of the ropes again and hits another hotshot on Generico. Generico is stunned as James hits an elbow from the top rope. James with the cover but Generico kicks out at 2. Both men are showing the toll of this match now, but James is up first and climbs up to the top rope in the moonsault position. Generico though is right behind him and straddles James on the top rope. James though didn’t take all of it and as Generico comes back James lures him in with a tornado stunner. James to his feet and he hits a running kick on Generico and then follows that up with a running Spin Flatliner. James goes for the cover, 1,2, but Genrico kicks out right before the ref hits the 3. Both men take their time gettin to their feet, James looks to be going for an Irish Whip setup, but Genrico holds onto the ropes. James tries to throw a kick, but Generico holds onto to James’s arm and sets him up and delivers to the Double Pumphandle Cradle Suplex to Powerbomb. Gernerico with the cover, 1,2… but James kicks out. Generico knows he has this close to being over and signlas for the kill, could it be time for the Brainbustah? The move though is cut short as James’ daddy climbs up to the apron and aims to create a distraction. James with a school boy with a handful of tights, but Genrico is able to slip out. Generico tries to catch James, but James with the high scoop slam and turns it into a Michinoku Driver. Another near fall, as Generico signals it is not over yet. James to the top rope and jumps off with a Frog Splash but no one is there as Gernerico rolls out of the way. James in the corner and is met with an Ole Kick. He follows that up with the Half Nelson Suplex. Generico keeps the pain coming as he quickly lifts James up and signals the end following a Spike Brainbuster.
This match was definitely the match of the show and it showed with a great showing from both men. Both brought the fight and both should that they knew what the other man was going for next in the match. James brought everything he had with his talent and the aid of his family, but it was not enough to put away the established star. In the end I have to give this match [*** 1/2] a great match and definitely not one to miss.
All in all, I would say this DVD is worth checking out not only for what I reviewed from the first disc, but also with some of the matches that came as extras with the second disc of the DVD.
Those matches include Bruce Van Chan vs. Matt Sydal aka WWE Superstar Evan Bourne. Two ROH & Shimmer talents facing off with  MsChif vs. Sarah Del Rey, Current FCW talent Donavan Ruddick faces off against another current FCW Talent and past ROH star Tyler Black. Mark Sterling vs. Colt Cabana and St. Louis Star and LWA Champion Davey Vega defend his belt against “The Generic Luchadore” El Generico.
You can buy this event at SmartMarkVideo.com for only $15.
I plan to close this out by saying a lot of these guys put on shows in front of small crowds and still work their butts off. Go to the shows, cheer or boo as loud as you are able. These guys are there to show you what they got an the energy of the crowd definitely impacts the excitement and adrenaline for the guys in the ring. So if you see a flier for a local promotion, and are a wrestling fan, take the time to support your local promotions. For all you know the next big star could come out of there and you could be like I remember him. Look at people like Evan Bourne, Delirious, MsChif and now more specifically Ruddick. They all came out of the St. Louis area and have done well for themselves.
Thanks for checking out the review and I hope to be back soon as possible for a Review/Look at STL Anarchy’s first show as it will be released on DVD here soon.  Just to leave you with some interest for that some of the names that competed at the show were Akira Tozawa, Davey Richards, Kyle O’Reilly and Arik Cannon.
