We will be holding a DVD giveaway exclusive to Facebook fans so be sure to ‘Like’ Vanguard Wrestling Allstar Alliance on Facebook so you can tag them in your responses for a chance to win their Best of 2011 DVD set. Keep an eye out. Anyway let’s get to the review.

VWAA Circuit Championship
“Old School Brawler” Rick Walsh def Daryck St. Holmes Esq. to retain

A clash of styles to be sure. Daryck St. Holmes who is a good friend to the site due to the AAW connection, is new to me in the sense that I have never seen him in the ring, just heard him on the mic. This is not going to be the match for everyone but when it comes to story telling it was a decent encounter. Walsh is a brawler and in the end a spinebuster was the end for St. Holmes.

Walsh got on the mic and began his complaint about the lack of competition, as soon as he started COLT CABANA popped up on the V-Screen with a message for Walsh. Put simply, he’d see Walsh at Destiny!

VWAA Frontline Medal
Jordan Pryde def Joey Marx to retain (Ali Bumaye was special guest referee)

Joey Marx has had some impressive showings, particularly against Sinclair but tonight he has a chance for the Frontline Medal against Jordan Pryde who has the Iron Fist in his arsenal. Marx despite being the smaller of the men in this match definitely can get it done and with his high flying abilities I’d love to see him get a chance in some other promotions who emphasize that kind of style. Pryde on the other hand is the stiffer, thicker of the two but his fundamentals are there. With both of these guys their story telling ability is growing with each match I see them in and both men deliver no matter the circumstances. Some great sequences in this match as Marx just shows his quickness every time out. But there is a reason sometimes that style is called high risk and when an opponent can take advantage of that it spells doom and a devastating air raid crash ends this one. Good for Marx though who showed what he can do and that he should be going after one of the secondary titles in VWAA.

Best of 5 Series
John E. Kash def Freek to tie the series at 2-2
Which means the final match will take place at Manifest Destiny V

Freek is just fun. That’s all I can say. If you like Delirious, if you like CHIKARA, then this guy is for you and that is what VWAA brings to the table as well. Something for everyone. I’ve enjoyed every match of this series so far and this one was no different. They’ve kept it fun & active each time out. Kash though on the desperate end had to really bring it before the match officially began with suplexes & a practical mugging. Freek tried to fight but in the end the pre-match beat down was his undoing along with some mysterious spray that was used. The series would be tied up here and at Manifest Destiny V we will see the rubber match.

“The Definition” Isaias Velazquez def Ace Martino w/ Dr. Pinder

Martino seems to be in the same camp as Thomas Sinclair and has a similar attitude. Isaias though is a talent I’m extremely high on and if for no other reason will make every single $5 DVD from VWAA well worth the price. Martino though is impressive here in his debut. He’s keeping pace with Isaias which I have to say is not easy. This is a very technical match up and I do hope to see more of Martino in the future despite the loss.

“Born to Wrestle” Thomas Sinclair w/ Dr. Pinder def Ali Bumaye (Jordan Pryde was special guest ref)

Pinder’s newest charge wasn’t successful tonight but Sinclair will definitely never disappoint. Sinclair is a fantastic technician and Bumaye has the speed that few others do. This was one of the better matches of the night & Sinclair is always worth the $5 alone. Lots of holds & counter holds in this one as it’s a test of one-ups-manship for these two men. It’s a match I’d say to go out of your way to see.

Kamen Lucha def Thomas Sinclair
Kamen Lucha then ripped off the mask to reveal Velazquez himself! When Sinclair recovered, he LOST IT. We can assume that we have yet another match for Manifest Destiny V.

An open challenge lead to this match but it was short and swift and will lead to more matches between these two of the top stars in VWAA. What I love about this is that they did a video recap about all the times that Pinder interfered. VWAA really pays attention to those types of details and I have to say that anyone who enjoys that kind of story telling should be checking out VWAA & at only $5 per DVD it’s very easy to follow.

VWAA Tag Team Championship
Incredibly Amazin’ def Matthias Kelevra & Cedric Keys to retain

Keys continued to insert himself into the match to prove something to Kelevra. It wound up costing him the win. Kelevra seemed unmoved by this as he has done his work and Keys had learned another lesson.

Kelevra is just a huge man and with the team of Incredibly Amazin’ the ring was tested for sure. Keys is a fantastic talent and knows how to get the crowd to hate him. Kelevra on the other hand is just terror personified and the more his in ring abilities are kept to a minimum until he meets Titan the better. Not saying he isn’t talented in the ring for his size but it’s better that VWAA has kept his in-ring skills for those matches when it will make the most impact. Atlas J. Horn of the Incred. Amazin’ team relationship with Keys was also well told here by the commentators. I didn’t really know that he was a mentor to Keys and when these two were in the ring together it made it mean that much more & that is what a commentator is supposed to bring to the table. In the end it was a great story of Kelevra trying to bring Keys to that next level but Keys falling just short of that goal. Overall a great tag match with tons of intertwined detail that I really enjoy in my wrestling.

VWAA Championship
“God of War” Lamar Titan def Lee Valiant to retain

Resolution Rumble winner, “The Cleric” Matthias Kelevra left a simple message for Titan, “See you at Destiny”

Lee Valiant has been a passable talent so far. Nothing I can really say works for me but he has potential and it makes sense seeing as how his family has some sort of power in VWAA. But it’s not the typical abuse of power. His uncle I believe booked this match to teach this kid a lesson and who better to learn that from than Titan who as I’ve said this whole time is as talented if not more than Kofi Kingston and has that killer instinct and ability to utilize that. A fun match, nothing really special but that is not a knock on it as it definitely earns it’s main event spot, just with what I know Titan can do this was a more reserved match.

Overall: I’d have to say that even though none of the matches are particularly special, this is a good showing from VWAA. A 7/10 DVD. Lots of story telling though and so you wouldn’t want to miss out on this one to get the meat of some of the major feuds going on leading into Manifest Destiny V. Not a must buy but at only $5 per DVD one I’d say to pick up when you buy Manifest Destiny V, trust me.. you’ll be buying that event with the results we posted here on PWP. If you can’t wait buy the DVD here: http://www.vwaawrestling.com/merchandise.htm
