AAPW Collision can be seen every other Saturday at 12:00pm on WSIL-TV 3.

WSIL is an ABC affiliate serving Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, and Southeast Missouri.

AAPW is a locally owned and operated professional wrestling company that will begin its fifth year of operation this October. Local talent includes “The Main Attraction” K.C. Jackson, Heath Hatton, Jay Spade, Mike Masters, Playboy Paul Rose, and Edmund “Livewire” McGuire.

On this episode of Collision, Edmund “Livewire” McGuire confronts “The Masterpiece” Mike Masters and the AAPW office about the finish of his “Final Shot” at the title on the previous episode. The Great Cheyenne takes on Rebecca Raze, as Women’s Wrestling returns to Collision. The main even, hailed by many as the best main event in Collisions short history, has Team XXX partners Jay Spade and Joey O’Reilly face off in a No-Limits tournament Semi Final match.

Collision starts off with the announce team of Chris Hagstrom and Kevin Hunsperger talking about things that have been going on as well as the main even match. Suddenly Edmund “Livewire” McGuire’s music hits and out comes the former champion to address the crowd as well as “the office”.

Livewire talks about his match on the previous episode with Mike Masters and how the match ended. He addresses the fact that AAPW owner Sean Chambers declared that previous was his last match to regain the title from Masters, much to the chagrin of the fans. He then asks for an explanation from the “Higher Ups” in AAPW. At this point Chris Hagstrom enters the ring and greets Livewire. Hagstrom goes into the entire situation, starting with Summer Chaos and Masters title win. He says that in one regard Chambers is right, in that other people deserve a title shot. He says that he is not allowed to make a title match and that Chambers has already set a title match for the next episode of Collison between Masters and Heath Hatton. At this point Livewire takes the mic and says he is not opposed to Hatton getting a title shot, that he has worked hard and deserves it. Hagstrom then says he CAN set a #1 Contender match, of which the winner will face the winner between Masters and Hatton. He says that Livewire will face The Mississippi Madman in a #1 Contenders match on the spot.

Edmund “Livewire” McGuire

Vs.

The Mississippi Madman

(#1 Contenders Match for Heavyweight title)

Recap: This match for the #1 contender spot is between 2 of AAPW biggest fan favorites, and 2 pretty close friends. This match is a brawl right from the start with Livewire backing Madman into the corner. Livewire breaks off the attack and walks to opposite corner only to turn around into a flurry attack from the Madman. At this point Madman takes control of the match and just out powers Livewire with his size. Livewire attempts to mount an offense with several punches and an attempted cross body block, only to be caught in mid-air and slammed like a baby doll by the big man. Madman goes for a splash only to have Livewire move out of the way which allows him to take over the match. Livewire gets several 2 counts on Madman before Madman is able to take control again. Madman sends Livewire across the ring into the opposite corner and hits a big splash on Livewire in the corner. Madman starts the set up for his 5th Floor Slam only to have Bull Bronson come out and distract him. Livewire hits Madman with a couple of Super Kicks, and is setting up for a 3rd only to have Bronson grab Livewire’s ankles and trip him, crotching him on the ring post and getting Madman disqualified.

Winner by DQ: Edmund “Livewire” McGuire

Review: While these 2 men are great friends outside the ring, they let it all out against one another inside the ring. Madman went after Livewire like hell was fixin to freeze over and his salvation depended on it. This was a great match until Bull Bronson decided to butt in. I would love to see these 2 go at it again to see who would come out on top.

Next up is Joey O’Reilly talking about his match later in the might against his partner in Team XXX, Jay Spade.

Rebecca Raze

Vs.

The Great Cheyenne

Recap: The match starts off with Cheyenne pulling Rebecca from the middle turn buckle and slamming her down by the hair. Raze gets severeal quick attacks off before Cheyenne gets the momentum back again. Cheyenne goes on the attack and just pummels Raze before slamming her to the mat for the win.

Winner by pinfall: The Great Cheyenne

Review: This match, like most women’s wrestling matches now days, was WAY too quick. It seems like the women in the sport just do not get the respect they used to in the industry. A sad, but true fact….

Next up is another part of the interview series with “Serial Thriller” Shane Rich talking about the rise and growth of AAPW and his own rise and growth in the industry. He also talks about his tryout with WWE and the subsequent matches.

Truk Thompson

Vs.

A.T. Brooks

Recap: The match gets started with A.T. trying to stand toe to toe with Thompson, who is by far the bigger of the 2 men. Thompson challenges Brooks to a test of strength then plants his hands under his feet and just stands on them. Thompson throws Brooks out of the ring and follows him out and begins to just pummel him and throw him around. At this point Thompson shows how in control he is by grabbing a fans cell phone and snapping a picture of himself holding Brooks on the ground. Thompson then throws Brooks back in and after several attempted flurries by Brooks, Thompson hits his “Crimson Tide” slam and gets the win.

Winner by pinfall: Truk Thompson

Review: This was just a mismatch from the get go. Truk Thompson probably eats more in a week than A.T. Brooks weighs. With that said Brooks DID NOT give up and gave it his all. Brooks needs to put on some muscle and a little weight and I think he could easily be in the running with some of the great cruiser weights in history. Thompson, who I love to watch, reminds me of a young Rick Steiner in his Varsity Club days with Kevin Sullivan.

Joey O’Reilly

Vs.

Jay Spade

Recap: The match starts off with the 2 tag team partners and friends shaking hands and quickly going into a collar and elbow lock up. The 2 men feel each other out with several tie ups and clean breaks. Spade quickly gets O’Reilly in a side headlock and attempts to take control of the match only to have O’Reilly cut it short. The 2 then go back and forth with knock downs and ties up be Spade gets O’Reilly in a waist lock which is quickly reversed. Spade keeps O’Reilly grounded by keeping him tied up in arm bars and locks before breaking off. Spade gets O’Reilly in a sort of modified Figure 4 (as Chris Hagstrom called it from the announce table) before O’Reilly is able to break lose. Spade is in control at this point and gets a 2 count. O’Reilly attempts to turn the tables and is able to get a 2 count of his own. After several shots to Spade O’Reilly is able to hit a move similar to Sin Cara’s top rope back flip slam (not sure what it is called) standing flat in the middle of the ring. The 2 then begin trading high flying moves, strikes, and attacks. After several attacks of his own Spade hits O’Reilly with a high cross body block from the top rope for a 2 count. Again the 2 men begin trading strikes and attacks with O’Reilly getting yet another 2 count. Several strikes later O’Reilly hits a high cross body block from the top rope of his own for a 2 count. The 2 then trade 2 counts back and forth with each man getting several before Spade hits a clothes line which leaves both men laying in the middle of the ring just spent. At this point it is obvious the 2 men are exhausted and close to being done, but heart and will are driving them both. Spade hits a modified DDT on O’Reilly, only to have O’Reilly roll out of the ring.. Spade attempts to get O’Reilly back in the ring, but is so spent he has no energy left to follow O’Reilly back in. They each get a couple of 2 counts again at this point, but are unable to finish off their opponent. Spade goes for a roll up, but has it reversed by O’Reilly into a sort of modified small package for the win. The 2 partners at this point hug one another in a show of respect.

Winner by pinfall: Joey O’Reilly

Review: Of the entire No Limits tournament, this has probably been the best match of them all. The 2 partners gave it all they had and went after one another tooth and nail. I have to say in the time I have been following AAPW this is probably my favorite match so far…

After the match Jay Spade gets a mic and addresses his tag team partner and the crowd. He goes onto say that he is taking some time away from the ring to re-energize and wishes his Team XXX partner luck in his match against KC Jackson at Zero Hour in October.

AAPW continues to make strides in production and match quality. The match between Spade and O’Reilly was probably one of the best matches on Collision to date. Hopefully  Spade isn’t gone too long and returns with more hunger and ready for a title run of his own.
