Pro Wrestling Collision debuts Jan. 19 with the Collision Cup

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois wrestling fans will have the opportunity to witness a new type of wrestling entertainment in 2013 when Pro Wrestling Collision presents its first show in Carbondale on Jan. 19.

Pro Wrestling Collision continues to honor the tradition and lineage of the Southern Illinois-based company from which it developed. The company was launched in December 2012 by local pro wrestling entrepreneur Christopher Hagstrom.

“This is the beginning of a new era of professional wrestling in Southern Illinois,” Hagstrom said. “The wrestling fan base has been growing and thriving in the region in recent years, and we are ready to give our fans an opportunity to discover something familiar but with a new perspective.”

Fans who attend Pro Wrestling Collision’s debut show will see familiar faces in the ring, such as Edmund “Livewire” McGuire and Heath Hatton. Hagstrom is pleased with the group of wrestling talent in the locker room, which he feels will help make Pro Wrestling Collision the top wrestling company in the region.

“We have assembled a roster filled with the best talent from Southern Illinois and the surrounding areas,” he said. “We will continue to provide a quality entertainment option to SIUC students, as well as to all other age groups in the community.” Hagstrom added that Pro Wrestling Collision is truly family-friendly entertainment.

The company’s debut event will feature the Collision Cup – a one-night, eight-man tournament to determine a new challenger for the Pro Wrestling Collision Heavyweight Champion. The tournament competitors are Hatton, Brandon Espinosa, Ace Hawkins, Joey O’Riley, Kyle Sykes, Matt Cage, Christian Rose and Alex Castle.

Also appearing at the Jan. 19 event will be “Farmer” Billy Hills, Justice, Twinke Starr, Bull Bronson, “Old School Warrior” Ax Allwardt, Zakk Sawyer and Angelus Layne.

Pro Wrestling Collision’s inaugural event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, in Ballroom D of the SIU Carbondale Student Center.  Tickets are $5 each and are available in advance at prowrestlingcollision.com and at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m.
