In 2011, PWP and VWAA began co-promote their product and it’s one we’re continuing in 2013. Through many DVD reviews (which can be find here) I’m proud to say that VWAA has shown itself to be an indy promotion to watch and one that I wish I had caught on to earlier in it’s beginnings in 2007. They have a lot of great talents, many of whom are making strides all around the indy scene and they are really pushing it into 5th gear in 2013.

It began after their last event of 2012 in May, Manifest Destiny, as they teased some big announcements coming. Weeks turned to months, and while they were on hiatus I was hoping to read a tweet or facebook message alerting me to what I could expect. They released a few videos on youtube but nothing substantial and even with a few correspondences with talents within the company, they were also kept in the dark. The suspense was eating at me. While VWAA was still a young promotion in terms of my viewing, they had pulled me in with their home grown talents such as Isaias Velazquez and Thomas Sinclair, a feud that won their VWAA 2012 Feud of the Year award, Lamar Titan who was reigning Champion when I began watching them and their current Champion Methias, who is a mountain of a man. They had debuted guys whose work I have been impressed with such as Bobby Beverly, Rickey Shane Page, Ricochet, and Eric Ryan. But with their regional reach and their growth in 2012 that I got to watch first hand, I was certain that 2013 was going to bring some big changes.

Then came THE tweet. One that hinted at a talent that I did not expect to see in VWAA, at least until they grew a little bit more. Boy did they prove me wrong. They then released a photo directly from VWAA owner Daniel Zigwa which you can see below.

There are clearly talents on there that you will immediate recognize and ones that you may or may not recognize until you look a bit closer. But trust me, a lot of those talents on there are not ones that I expected to be brought in. They have already officially announced that Johnny Gargano is coming in 2013, yes the cat’s pajamas. And hinted that assailANT of CHIKARA fame is also coming with a semi confirmation based on an image they put out of assailANT with their roster background.

Now let’s be clear about something, I’m in no way saying that the VWAA product is second rate. In many ways, VWAA does things that I wish the “top” indie promotions would take notice of when it comes to production and storyline progression. I’ve mentioned these things many times in my reviews. But when it comes to certain names, you don’t necessarily go to them first when it comes to a promotion that is still in it’s growing phase in terms of indie wrestling recognition. Sure, you can think of perhaps 1 to 3 names that will pop out. But if you look at that image above, there are AT LEAST 10 guys on there that if you combined them with the VWAA roster, you’d have to declare VWAA as one of the top indie promotions in the country, and I was not prepared for that huge leap. But I guess as the old saying goes, there is no reward without a little risk. And VWAA is taking a huge risk, and in my humble opinion, will garner a huge reward in 2013. What do you think given those images you see above? #BleedPink
