A Hunt for Gold opens w/ hosts Chris Shore, Craig Veltri  and ring announcer Corky Franks letting the fans draw names for the random draw tag tournament out of a hat. We get some strange pairings, some possible front runners as well as some combustible pairs in this completely unique “shoot” style drawing. In addition to crowning new PWX tag team champions PWX champion Caleb Konley defends against Davey Richards & 1/2 of ROH’s tag champions Kyle O’Reilly faces off with Cedric Alexander! Lets take a complete look at this great night of action and remember the following is…

#1MansOpinion: Royal continued his MONSTER year with another victory here. Royal is proving he is one of the best big men on the Indy scene. Solo, a trainee of Team Ambition seems to be putting in the work & looked much improved here in his second appearance with PWX. This was a good opener to get the crowd going. ** 1/4

#1MansOpinion: This match had some new talent mixed with mainstay & fan favorite Zane Riley. James & Rage used their power & conditioning to pick up the impressive win. James looks better each appearance & looked as though he & newcomer Blaine Rage really found something being paired together. Both have great physiques and worked well together. The mysterious Monster C & Zane Riley did well for themselves, and though they may not have the cohesiveness their opponents found, Riley never fails to entertain. ** 1/2

#1MansOpinion: Skyler & Manning may be the most controversial, yet deadliest pair of this tourney. Though they didn’t get along Skyler & Manning faced & defeated two excellent athletes in this opening round match. Evans one half of “the only legitimate” tag team in PWX ‘Worst Case Scenario’ was not happy about teaming with anyone other than his partner Ethan Case and that may have been the downfall for he & Trevor Lee who could’ve gone far. All four men were very good in this match. ***

#1MansOpinion: The random draw produced an exciting & high flying pair who have since been dubbed “American Airlines” Everett & U.S. Tiger Mask were in sync & lightning fast on their way to victory. Corey Hollis had expressed his disdain for this tournament many times and seemed unwilling to cooperate with the mysterious, yet familiar newcomer Mr Wrestling III. ** 3/4

#1MansOpinion: Perhaps the truest odd couple of this tournament “Chips & Salsa” Chip Day & Amanda Rodriguez looked great here against another pairing that could’ve done big things in this tournament, Ethan Case & Mr Elite Drew Myers. Ego may have been the downfall of this team. Case, like his partner had no interest in teaming with anyone besides Eli Evans. Mr Elite, who has been gaining momentum (and attitude) the last year surely took a blow to his ego being pinned by Amanda Rodriguez in what many would consider a major upset. ***

#1MansOpinion: This match was as crisp & technical as I’ve seen live all year! O’ Reilly worked over Cedric’s arm & Alexander countered working over his opponent’s leg. The two went back & forth with neither giving in. Alexander’s motivation & endurance  was a bit stronger in the end. Cedric had faced & lost to Kyle twice in the past and really needed this win. Go out of your way to see this one, its one of PWX’s best in the last year & there have been plenty of great matches. *** 3/4

#1MansOpinion: Skyler & Manning once again bickered throughout this entire match and nearly lost to the impressive newcomers Rage & James. Skyler & The Manscout proved why they are arguably the two most impressive talents in the tournament field coexisting through their differences and advancing to the finals. ** 3/4

#1MansOpinion: The crowd was fully behind both of these makeshift teams as they came out for this semifinal match. Everett & U.S. Tiger Mask were impressive once again but Day brought his brutal strikes which slowed down ‘American Airlines’ as the odd couple including the only female in the tournament advanced to the finals. ***

#1MansOpinion: Another excellent matchup which saw the PWX champ take a beating but once again hold onto the gold. PWX really delivered on the singles matches in a night that was heavily focused on the tag team division. Richards is one of the Best in the World and Konley continues to accept & conquer any challenge in his quest to bring PWX to another level. I don’t think anyone saw this outcome with Konley forcing Davey to tap out. This is another match I encourage you to check out as soon as possible. *** 1/2

#1MansOpinion: Despite major differences that boiled to the surface  in this final match. The Southern Savior proved the only goal he had on this night was leaving as tag team champion . Manning argued with his partner about his treatment of Amanda throughout the match but Skyler gave Manning the metaphorical middle finger (and later a literal one) by blasting Amanda with a superkick as Jake was battling Day outside the ring. After the match, Skyler finally accepted a handshake from his partner only to blast Manning w/ the tag belt. Skyler left & Jake said this was a dishonorable victory but if John Skyler isn’t on board he’ll work twice as hard to be an honorable champion.

#1MansFINALOpinion: This was a fun, unpredictable night of wrestling from PWX. Some lasting teams may have been made & some possible feuds could come about from those who didn’t work as well. The two featured singles matches were phenomenal with Alexander & O’Reilly barely winning my MOTN. Both matches should be seen as soon as highspots.com has the DVD available I suggest you pick up this & other great shows from Premiere Wrestling Xperience. The story of the night in the tag tourney  may have been Amanda Rodriguez, still very new to the business Amanda really was impressive wrestling three matches, getting a big pinfall over Mr Elite and making a formidable tag team with ITV champion Chip Day. As for the end of the event, John Skyler did what he needed to do to win the tournament and Rodriguez held her own the entire night. Though I am in the minority I see nothing wrong with the actions of “The Southern Savior” it will be interesting to see how Manning does defending the titles as John Skyler has announced he will be touring the UK for the next three months.
