VWAA Num3ers Game 3.0
May 19th, 2013

VWAA held one of its biggest shows ever on May 19th as it was host to talents such as Colt Cabana, Chuck Taylor, Arik Cannon, and many more. This show would also crown the first Circuit Champion of this new era in VWAA. I was anticipating watching this event and seeing guys like Matt Cage, Alex Castle, and Christian Rose mix it up with guys like Thomas Sinclair, Isaias Velazquez, Tripp Cassidy, and Reed Bentley under the VWAA banner. The tournament format also was unique and intriguing as all the matches were elimination style and only the survivors would go on to compete for the Circuit Championship in a Doors, Ladders, and Chairs match at the end of the night. Let’s get to it.

Num3ers Game Tournament Six Man Tag Team Elimination Match
Alex Castle, Prince Mustafa Ali & The Canadian Rainbow Man defeat Angelus Layne, Dale Patrick’s & Green Ant
– Survivors: Prince Mustafa Ali

Seeing Green Ant teaming with Angelus Layne debut on the same team against talents like Prince Ali, Alex Castle, and… well I guess Canadian Rainbow Man was great. Prince Ali mouthing off some bigoted opinions about having to face Angelus Layne was tremendous. The rest of the match was basic. You could tell what they were going for and while it wasn’t bad, it was just there. The story of the match really was Angelus Layne fighting against the bigotry of Ali, the ridiculousness of CRM, and not getting turned into a “Bella” by Castle. There was a double suplex attempt by CRM and Ali onto Angelus that was of course thwarted and she reversed it, which was fun to see, and that could be said for the entire match. The tournament format of this show brought together a lot of interesting match ups and this was one of them. A lot of the eliminations came at the end in quick sequence but it built up Angelus for the Last Chance battle Royal. A fun start to the night, but not necessarily a technically sound one.
-Green Ant eliminated Castle via submission (Texas cloverleaf)
-Prince Ali eliminated Green Ant with a top rope sunset flip into a pin
-CRM eliminated Dale Patrick’s with a roll up
-Angelus Layne eliminated CRM with a northern lights suplex with a bridge
-Prince Ali eliminated Angelus Layne with a roll up using the ropes

Num3ers Game Tournament Six Man Tag Team Elimination Match
Reed Bentley, Thomas Sinclair & Tripp Cassidy defeat Colt Cabana, Jervis Cottonbelly & The Estonian Thunder Frog
– Survivors: Thomas Sinclair & Tripp Cassidy

The League being teamed with Thomas Sinclair was of course going to be an interesting relationship given that The League had targeted Sinclair here VWAA but I was surprised to see how well they worked together. Colt Cabana, Jervis Cotton belly and the Thunderfrog was truly a comedic gem. Overall this match was confusing to me as it either showed the intelligence of Thomas Sinclair, or the stupidity of the League. The winners of every tag match are going on to a final hardcore style match at the end. If they hated Thomas Sinclair so much, wouldn’t they have forced him to work most of the match himself? They instead chose to work their quick tags and worked over Thunderfrog and Jervis for most of the match. Now it was noticeable that Thomas never tried to tag in when he clearly had a chance, so I could go either way with this. The commentary tried to explain it but I was just glad that it was even acknowledged on commentary instead of it just being glossed over. Colt was the defacto leader of his team and would spend much of the match trying to get them all on the same page when it came to team maneuvers. The finish of this match was frustratingly dumb with Colt getting distracted by The League to where he had Thomas on his shoulders and somehow it was turned into a roll up. Can’t say this match lived up to what I was hoping it would be but it had some good action and given the guys had to work another match at the end of the night, I could understand conserving some energy.

-The League eliminated Jervis Cottonbelly
-Colt Cabana eliminated Reed Bentley via submission after being pushed into the Billy Goats curse by Thomas
-Tripp Cassidy eliminated Estonian Thunderfrog via roll up
-Thomas Sinclair eliminated Colt Cabana

Num3ers Game Tournament Six Man Tag Team Elimination Match
Isaias Velazquez, Joe Firoz & Matt Cage defeat Arik Cannon, Christian Rose & Chuck Taylor
– Survivors: Isaias Velazquez & Matt Cage

Isaias Velazquez was the first ever Circuit Champion and this was certainly a coming home for him as he’s been working in AAW a lot lately but he’s had some good matches with guys like Gargano already in 2013 for VWAA. A guy, along with Thomas Sinclair, that I hope you readers will keep an eye on. This match for me had the most potential from an in-ring factor and I would say they lived up to it. Team Overkill brought it when they were in the ring together given how familiar they are with each other and in-and-out interactions of Chuck Taylor and Joe Firoz were as entertaining as anything else on this show. Can’t say anything that isn’t already known about Cannon as he brings it every time, but I do think that anyone not as familiar with Isaias Velazquez will be surprised to see how good he can be and where he could go going forward.

-Joe Firoz eliminated Christian Rose with a rode red
-Chuck Taylor eliminated Joe Firoz with a tweaked version of the awful waffle
-Matt Cage eliminated Chuck Taylor with a small package
-Isaias Velazquez eliminated Arik Cannon with a daze-a-vu

Num3ers Game Tournament Last Chance Battle Royal
Angelus Layne defeats Alex Castle, Arik Cannon, Christian Rose, Chuck Taylor, Dale Patrick’s, Green Ant, Jervis Cottonbelly, Joe Firoz, Reed Bentley, The Canadian Rainbow Man, Devin Bliss, The 2 Star Heroes, a few others and The Estonian ThunderFrog

The beginning of this match had every one trying to lift the Hammer of Peace brought; easily I might add, to the ring by Thunderfrog. No one had the strength to do so; this was just fun to watch. A pretty typical battle royal here, nothing really special but a bunch of shenanigans. CRM, Reed Bentley was left with Angelus Layne but her basically out smarted them and ended up winning. She is Progress.

Mia Martinez defeats Shakira Tatsu

Decent match for what it was. Nothing offensive here but nothing really to talk about either. It was given quite a bit of time which I didn’t understand given that some of the opening matches could have used that to tell a little bit more of a story but this was the buffer match. Mia won with an electric chair with a bridge pin.

VWAA Circuit Title Six Way Doors, Ladders & Chairs Match
Tripp Cassidy defeats Angelus Layne and Isaias Velazquez and Matt Cage and Prince Mustafa Ali and Thomas Sinclair

Here’s the match we’ve all been waiting for and boy did it not disappoint. This match had ladders, chairs, and yes.. doors. There was a lot going on in this match and most of it was good. A sick power bomb from Matt Cage to Thomas Sinclair onto a ladder in the corner literally destroyed the ladder, and probably hurt a bit too. Angelus Layne always seemed to have the upper hand when it came to Ali as she was able to use his own ladder against him as well as a few other weapons. But it would be Matt Cage who Regal suplexed her through a door in another corner. A few missed moves here and there and a few timing issues. But in a scary moment of the match, Ali went for a 450 I believe and his feet hit the ceiling but he still crashed through Matt Cage who was laying prone on a table set up between two chairs. Scary as heck though as it seemed Ali landed awkwardly as he came down. Tripp Cassidy would win this bad boy though with a version of the 2K1 bomb onto a chair after Sinclair tried to tiger suplex the interfering Reed Bentley through a door. The League is dominating VWAA.

Overall: This was a good show and one of their most star studded line ups in 2013. Most of the action on this mp4 was good and for me the match of the night was the third 6 man elimination match. The main event seemed rather short but they got a lot of good stuff in there. For the $9.99 that I spent to get this show I have to say I got my money’s worth. It is a historic moment for VWAA in 2013 and one I can give a recommendation to as it shows what VWAA can bring in 2013 and beyond.
