Ring of Honor World Title Tournament- First Round Match
Michael Bennett vs. BJ Whitmer was thrown out after Bennett pildrove Whitmer on the apron and BJ needed immediate attention.
Arda Ocal just tweeted, “BJ Whitmer was conscious, wiggling his fingers, gave a thumbs up while stretchered out. Is being taken to hospital.”
It was stated that it took between 10-15 minutes for BJ to be stretchered to the back while the place was silent.
Our correspondent said it looked like a Bennett botch.
PWInsider is reporting that the hope within ROH is that he only suffered a stinger, but we don't have clarification yet on how bad the injury is. The match was cut short after the move and Davey Richards and EMTs came out to attend to Whitmer.
ROH reported on twitter that he has feeling and movement in his arms and legs.

  1. such a bullshit biased report of the unfortunate bj incedent, the onus is on the person taking the move to protect themselves. when taking a piledriver you wrap your arms around the applier’s thighs (which it looks like bj did) and then absorb the move with an open palm (which it looks like he didnt) look i hope bj is ok, but he is the one with the history of taking some pretty awful bumps and botching them, but bennett is public enemy number 1 here. you guys should be ashamed

  2. We are merely reporting what was told to us. Also, don’t see why we would be ashamed when the report was given to us. We can’t make any judgement on it since we weren’t there. Wouldn’t make any sense for us to correct a report when we weren’t there. So if you have any issue with the report, feel free to contact the person who sent it in who we always give credit to.

  3. Bennett did freak out and was panic stricken as soon as he dropped him down to execute the move. There was an immediate look of regret, as if he knew an error had been committed regardless of any one trying to come up with who caused it. That is far from the point. Wrestling is about protecting each other the best you can, which is obviously never an easy task based on the nature of what they do. However, the onus would also be on someone to protect their opponents neck and not drop them square on the top of their head in that situation. No bullshit and no bias here at all. Reporting that an error may have been committed is an attack on neither party involved in the incident. It was a scary scene while it lasted and your attention should be on BJ’s well being and not trying to find any type of public enemy number one. Wrestling for die-hards ain’t easy and sometimes these things happen. In no way is any sort of attack on Bennett present, although the picture, in some form, should speak to what happen. Thanks for stopping by PWP though!
