Indy Spotlight: Jack Thriller

In the next weeks and months, I will be sporadically doing articles on some of the lesser known and perhaps lesser publicized talents on the independent wrestling scene. My goal, as always, is to help educate promoters, fans, and anyone involved in the wrestling business about some of these talented, but less heralded wrestlers. With that being said, we move on to this week’s spotlighted wrestler…

“Serial Killer” Jack Thriller

Finisher(s): Snapmare Driver & Figure Four Leglock

Current Promotions: IWA Mid-South, RIOT PRO, IROC , American Sky Dojo, Pro Wrestling King, U Pro Wrestling

Fans of IWA Mid-South in Indiana are very familiar with this lunatic of a wrestler who has been honing his craft and improving throughout 2013. He has been ranked as high as #7 in the Indy Power Rankings, since the return of (the currently on hiatus) IWA to the Kentuckiana region. Before we get into that, let’s look at where “The Serial Killer” spawned from and the places he’s been to get here.

Jack Thriller was trained by the legendary UFC veteran and former NWA World Champion, Dan Severn. Yes, THAT Dan Severn. This surely contributed to his later toughness as he ventured out to IWA Midwest and IWA Mid-South later in his career. He would debut in 2001.

Fast forward to 2012, and Thriller became embroiled in one of his biggest rivalries to date for both IWA Mid-South and IWA Midwest. His battles with Jimmy Jacobs would become something that the fans in Bellevue, Illinois would talk about for weeks on end. The two Michigan veterans engaged in one of the bloodiest rivalries to hit that area in quite some time.  From No Holds Barred Submission Battles to Dog Collar Matches, Jack Thriller and Jimmy Jacobs tore into each other and took YEARS off of each other’s lives. It even went as far as Thriller hanging Jimmy Jacobs by his neck over the top rope by the dog collar.

In the midst of his heated war with Jimmy Jacobs, Jack Thriller made it to the finals of the VIP Heavyweight Title Victory Cup 2012 but was defeated by his trainee Joseph Schwartz in a Student vs. Teacher Finals matchup. Less than a week later, he bounced back with a POGW Heavyweight Title win vs. Dollar at POGW Faded Glory VII in Coldwater, Michigan. In 2013, he has been just as dominant. He holds a big win over the current AIW Intense Champion Louis Lyndon on 1/5/13 and a victory over Dan Severn on 5/4/13 in another Student vs. Teacher match.

Jack Thriller has shown that he has no issue with taking to the air, wrestling on the mat, or going flat out balls to the wall, HARDCORE.

Look out for his name to be referenced more often as the months go by, as The Serial Killer’s reign of terror has just begun. For a quick sample of some of his insanity, enjoy:
