So I hit up Adam Pearce, a friend in the wrestling business the other day and asked if I could review his new documentary called” 7 Levels of Hate”. Adam always being the one to oblige allowed me access. And, without any glossing or sugar coating, THIS DOCUMENTARY is AMAZING!
It starts off discussing the history of Adam and his rise to success within wrestling and becoming the NWA Champion. It also looks back into the past and showcases how a young Colt Cabana and Adam Pearce met and eventually began their quests for glory out of the Chicago wrestling scene. All of this leading to the first time Colt Cabana becomes NWA Heavyweight Champion and the reign that ensued after it. And thats really where this documentary picks up and starts to show the brilliance of what it has. The in depth discussions regarding the behind the scene politics that goes into deciding wrestling championships and how so many people can be on the same page and still not have the ability to control their destiny. It brings out all the players that would allow themselves to discuss and give their opinions on the time period in question and the story does not fail to impress even my backgrounded history in the sport.
And thats not even the half of it. The discussion on the decision to do the 7 Levels of Hate and these guys attempting to bring the NWA Territory system back for a small moment in time to accomplish 7 matches across 7 parts of the country is phenomenal in itself. With a history of love and hate between the competitors and the cast of characters that help facilitate one of the greatest rivalries in the history of the NWA Heavyweight Championship, Pearce and Cabana give a blatant, emotional and detailed account of a moment in wrestling that will go down as one of the best ever.
I give this documentary a 8.5 out of 10 and would recommend it heavily to every single wrestling fan and wrestler in the business. Do not allow yourself to go one step further without picking up a copy of this amazing DVD.
