Following the nice opening video montage that welcomes us to PWX TV each week, this week we are welcomed by WCCB FOX anchor Bruce Snyder alongside Chris Shore. Snyder & Shore run down what is in store for this hour of PWX, including PWX Tag Team Champions Worst Case Scenario(Ethan Case & Elijah Evans IV) defending their titles against The Bravado Bothers. Snyder & Shore throw it down to the first match.

Kyle Matthews vs Adam Page
Match Recap: Matthews making his PWX debut extends a hand to Page, who accepts. The two then shake hands once more, finally shaking hands with Sr. Referee Mitch Blalock as Bruce Snyder on commentary tells Chris Shore “I might as well shake your hand.” Sportsmanship all around to begin this matchup. Page and Matthews start out with some excellent chain wrestling, going back and forth with neither getting any real advantage. Matthews wows the crowd early by spinning out of a move by Page and applying a Muta Lock. The two get back to a vertical base, exchange arm wringersand Page takes Matthews down with a drop toe hold, but Matthews reverses and locks in an armbar. Page & Matthews once again back standing and they trade hip tosses, arm drags, and finally both go for a dropkick and are reset once again. The crowd chants “PWX!” and the he two shake hands, and go back at it with Matthews pulling of an impressive headstand to get out of a head scissors and once again looks for the Muta Lock, but Page is too close to the ropes and the referee forces Kyle to break it. Matthews amps up the intesity, chopping Page in the corner, hitting several european uppercuts, and ties Page up on the ground. Page shows his strength and picks Matthews up on his back, but Matthews hits a double boot after being whipped in the corner and gets a two count off a la majhistrah cradle. Matthews trying to wear Page down with a body scissors, then snap mares him, followed by a HARD dropkick to the back of the neck. Matthews is again going to another level with his strikes as he can’t quite put Page away, Kyle locks in a sleeper but Page escapes and locks one of his own on, but Matthews again one step ahead counters with a Saito Suplex. Matthews with an abdominal stretch, Page counters with a chin buster, Page finally gets some offense in with a running knee strike, followed by a high velocity power slam for a near fall. Page goes for a tilt a whirl suplex, Matthews again finds a counter and locks in the “Black Widow” submission, but Page fights out and hits a Standing Shooting Star Press for a two count. Page goes up to the top, misses and Matthews hits a corner dropkick followed by a tornado DDT but Matthews still can’t keep Page down.

Ep9PageMatthews

Page reverses an irish whip and catches Matthews on the middle rope with a kick to the chin, this allows page to hit a middle rope swinging neckbreaker but STILL Kyle Matthews is not giving up! Matthews catches Page with a boot as he runs into the corner, and hits a roll through sunset flip from the apron, with a super kick exclamation point. Page, dazed in the corner gets hit with the “Slurpee Kick” and Matthews cradles Page for a three count as he falls out of the corner picking up a huge win in his PWX debut! Both men receive a well deserved standing ovation from the fans at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte, NC

Post Match: Corey Hollis comes out and says Adam Page is “The Welcome Mat to PWX” Hollis says Nice guys all finish last. Hollis says they’re both good country boys so they’re not much different, and for Page to stop waiting for things he wants and take them. Hollis says for Page to think about, Page has no response.

Match Analysis: Kyle Matthews is a name I’d heard a lot of prior to this match but he was more crisp & gifted in the ring than I could’ve imagined. Adam Page was a perfect opponent for his first match with PWX, the two worked flawlessly together in a back and forth style matchup. Page always looks great in the ring and I do believe that was only further highlighted with the performance he & Matthews put on together. If you’re a fan of good, pure chain wrestling or just a fan of seeing some of the best talent on the indies this is a match for you. *** 1/4

Andrew Everett vs Chase Brown
Match Recap: Everett hits a flipping dropkick as the bell rings and goes for a “Tongan Death Grip” Brown resets and takes exception to what he calls the “Flippity Dippity” guys who call themselves wrestlers, as Brown conforms to a more traditional style of wrestling being trained in the Catch as Catch can style of wrestling. Brown gets a headlock, then takes Everett over, but Andrew responds with a leg trip and grapevines the leg of Chase Brown. Chase reverses out of it and attempts to “ride” Everett, but the former Chiva Kid makes it to the rope. Brown locks in an armbar, but Everett uses his agility to springboard out of it and takes Brown’s arm, but Chase hits a forearm, followed by a clothesline that turns Everett inside out and Brown gets a nearfall. Chase takes it right back to the mat with a rear chin lock, as Everett tries to battle back but Brown pulls him down by the hair to keep the advantage. Brown whips his opponent into the corner and Everett flips out with a  triple back flip and locks in the Tongan Death Grip which has NO EFFECT and Brown goes back on the offensive looking for a german suplex, Everett lands on his feet. Andrew goes for a waist lock of his own but Brown reverses and hits the suplex as the two begin to slug it out. Everett hits a flying forerarm and spinning heel kick, then a springboard kick for a nearfall. Everett positions his opponent in the corner and ascends to the top but misses the twisting plancha. Brown hits an F5 type maneuver and locks in a kimura which Everett flips out of almost immediately but Brown holds the kimura. Everett again rolls out into a school boy for a 2 count, follows with a Pele Kick and a falcon arrow but Brown shows he won’t go away easily either, kicking out at 2. Brown again back to the waist lock, gets pushed back into the corner and the former “Goat Boy” Everett hits a standing head scissors, followed up by a springboard shooting star press to pick up the win.

Ep9ChaseChiva

Match Analysis: This match kind of came out of nowhere but ended up being another really good showcase of the core roster in PWX. Chase Brown continues to make an impact, yet still looks for that defining win that will move him up the PWX ladder, one thing is for sure “The Man Who can Ride any man to Hell” is no easy task or anyone. Everett continues to be one of the most sought after indy talents in the Southeast looking impressive as usual. This was a very competetive match which could’ve gone either way several times but Everett picks up another win. ***

PWX Tag Team Championship Match
Worst Case Scenario(Ethan Case & Elijah Evans IV) (c) w/ THE Tommy Thomas & “Worst Case Security” vs The Bravado Brothers(Harlem & Lancelot)

THE Tommy Thomas grabs the mic and says “They started from the bottom and now they’re here” referring to WCS newly won tag team titles. Thomas says The Bravados will be the next victims and WCS will NEVER(and he means NEEEEVVER) lose these titles. Corky Franks announces the participants and we’re underway with PWX Tag Team Title action.

Ep9WCS
Match Recap: Lancelot & Ethan start out for their respective teams, Case takes an armbar, Lancelot with a leg trip and takes an armbar of his own. Quick tag by Lancelot to his brother Harlem who goes right back to work on Case’s left arm, Ethan attempts a tag but can’t get there and The Bravados use some tag team wrestling with a double back elbow and Harlem hits a european uppercut followed by a dropkick and the challengers are rolling early. THE Tommy Thomas pulls the rope down and Lancelot goes crashing to the floor and WCS quickly claim the advantage as Case tags Evans into the match. Harlem tries to fight out and make a tag but Evans buries a knee in his back and the champs maintain control of the matchup. Harlem hits a big kick and follows with a tornado DDT, Lancelot gets the tag and takes over on Ethan Case with a drop toe hold into the buckle, and follows with a running knee in the corner for a nearfall. Lancelot continues the strong style, battering Ethan Case. Worst Case Security gets on the apron to prevent Lancelot from diving to the outside, Case takes advantage and makes the tag to Elijah Evans IV who takes over choking Lancelot on the bottom rope. Evans tags back in and continues to choke Lancelot on the bottom rope. Harlem has seen enough of the double teaming and tries to even the odds but Referee Charles Culler will not allow him into the ring and the champs continue their advantage. WCS showcase they have some tandem offense in their arsenal as well as Case hits a drop toe hold and Evans follows up with a high arching jumping leg drop. Lancelot is spent and needs the tag to Harlem but cannot get over there and Case baits Harlem by sticking Lancelot’s arm out there mockingly which brings Harlem in, allowing the champs to get a tag and keep the fresher man in. Lancelot out of nowhere catches Evans in a powerslam and Harlem finally gets tagged in, taking out both tag champions, hitting a devestating pump kick on Evans. Harlem follows with a running elbow, followed by a strong style lariat for a near fall and suddenly the challengers are back in it. Case gets back in the match before Lancelot can recover and the champs doule team Harlem, but he takes both out with an exploder suplex. Worst Case Security again back on the apron, Harlem takes him out this time and flies over the top onto both Worst Case Security and Ethan Case. Harlem goes to the top, hits a frogsplash on Evans for a 2 and 9/10 count as The Bravados nearly win the titles! Case sneaks back in with a side supex into a facebuster, WCS hit the double flipping face buster but STILL Harlem will not stay down for the 3! Lancelot recovers and hits a press powerslam, but Case saves his partner on another nearfall. Case & Evans are toe to toe in the middle of the ring slugging it out, Case hits three superkicks in a row as Lancelot asks for more, and Lancelot responds with a forearm of his own. Evans & Harlem(the legal men) are back in, Evans hits a blue thunder bomb for a nearfall, Harlem rolls Evans up, but THE Tommy Thomas assists Evans in reversing it, providing the extra leverage and Evans pins Harlem Bravado as WCS retains the titles in their first defense.

Match Analysis: Excellent main event here! WCS continue to gain heaps of momentum, like them or not they get the job done, Case is a ring tactician, and showman and Evans IV is as athletic as they come for such a big man.  The current PWX tag champs got it done in this match against one of the best tag teams on the independent scene today, Harlem & Lancelot The Bravado Brothers. The Bravados are always a welcomed addition to any PWX show and this was a true showcase of the revitalized tag team division in PWX. Can anyone dethrone WCS with their client representative THE Tommy Thomas at the helm? *** 1/2
