Shane Strickland def Joe Gacy
A good big man-little man match. Gacy dropped a knee from the second rope onto Strickland’s face better than Aksana did in…nevermind. Shane and Gacy seemed to try to work a little more snug tonight than I’ve seen in the past. Didn’t always work but I think the big show feel had them working harder than usual. Gacy pulling out an Osaka Street Cutter on Strickland was fun. Strickland got the win with a kick to the back of the head.

Tommy Dreamer comes out to the ring to a ton of ECW chants, as always. He welcomes everyone and says that 15 years of CZW is because of the fans (that and CZW gets a good chant). Tommy Dreamer says he won’t lie to the fans. Ruckus isn’t there and Biff Busick got injured and won’t be in the four way. Says a mystery opponent will be in the four way and a Super Dragon then really loud CM Punk chant starts. We even got YES chants. The winner of the four way will go on facing the CZW Heavyweight Champion the next month (Gulak or AJ). We got a fuck TNA chant going. The good news came in the form of a surprise free main event. DJ Hyde came out and received STFU chants and got compared to Charlie Brown in a suit. Fun segment honestly. The NJ fans are always vocal, for better or worse.

Tournament of Death 13 participants announced: Danny Havoc and Jun Kasai (BJW)
DJ Hyde inducts himself into the CZW Hall of Fame after mentioning past greats like Hero, Sick Nick Mondo and others. BLK Jeez came out and called him the biggest piece of shit and slapped DJ. This will probably be something visited all year. BLK Jeez adds himself to the four way.

Caleb Konley def Pepper Parks via submission with the Oh! Face
– Alexander James came out after the match. I assume these two will meet in the future.
Match was fine.

Greg Excellent def Joey Ryan with a reversal on a roll up
The lollipop that Ryan came to the ring with came into play. At one point they traded it back and forth between mouths but then Joey ran it down his chest and into his trunks, and Greg still put it in his mouth. You sick fuck chants ensued and the comedy match was on. Even I enjoyed the fun these two guys had in the ring, and if any of you know that’s not something I say often.

CZW Wired Championship
Devon Moore def Matt Tremont with a roll up to retain
Not much of a match. A few sequences of action but never really got out of first gear but I don’t think the feud between Tremont and the NOI is over.

Kimber Lee def Candice Larae with a power bomb (she states before the match that CVE is not going to wrestle tonight)

Four-way Tornado Tag Match
The Front (Sozio & Ace) def Juicy Product (David Starr & JT Dunn )/ NOI /OI4K
This match was as crazy as anyone would expect. A fun spot fest. Sozio got the pin with a big boot on JT Dunn. Good match.

CZW Tag Team Championship
Beaver Boys (Alex Reynolds and John Silver) def Murderers Row (Azreal & Alex Colon) to retain
Great match. These four guys really had a fun hard hitting match. Disliked Chrissie Rivera getting superkicked but that’s a personal thing. I know with her role it tends to happen no matter what. Azreal & Chrissie turning on Alex Colon was interesting though not sure how this is supposed to get Alex Colon to the next level. I guess we’ll see Azreal feuding with Colon though Azreal is going to be the heel given he didn’t double stomp Colon a second time after the crowd wanted him to.

#1 Contendership match
AR Fox def Drake Younger/BLK Jeez/Chris Dickinson
Honestly, this was a great match but it wasn’t even as wild as I thought it would get. Fox and Jeez really didn’t do anything I haven’t seen them do before. But seeing Drake and Dickinson face off was worth the wait. DJ interfering by beating up BLK Jeez was kinda obvious. Drake pulling off a death valley driver onto the ring apron on AR Fox was a true crazy moment. The last five minutes of the match were definitely worth the $15. AR Fox hits Lo Mein Pain on Drake Younger to get the win and become #1 contender. This is a great winf or Fox in CZW and he does it over a CZW legend. After the match Drake says to Dickinson and Fox that this is their CZW and it’s their time. He says he will always bleed black and yellow and that he’ll see them very, very soon. Perhaps for Best of the Best?

CZW World Championship
AJ Styles def Drew Gulak via DQ. Gulak retains.
Surreal seeing Styles get a great reaction from a CZW crowd though a few boos, but they still chanted his name. This match was at a slightly faster pace than the Hero/Gulak match (I haven’t seen the Lucky Thurteen match yet) and I think it made for a better match. There wasn’t much of a story told throughout the match other than Gulak just weakening AJ in any way he could whether it be focusing on AJ’s legs or ribs. But the intensity was there and Gulak looked like he could hang with the former TNA Champion. Kimber Lee interfered when AJ had Gulak ready for a Style’s Clash. This match ended in a DQ which caused a HUGE bullshit chant. AJ Styles hit Kimber Lee with the Style’s Clash. MASADA chased Gulak back into the ring which allowed AJ to lay out the champ and a modified calf killer and Styles Clash.

Bonus Main Event: Ultraviolent match
Danny Havoc def Drake Younger
This match was obviously a celebration of the 15 years of CZW and the fans loved it. Even with a few botches here and there, this was more than I figured Drake would ever do again. There was enough violence and hard hits to make this match what people wanted and it really didn’t have any blood.

Overall: I’d have to say this show was worth the $15 based on the title matches and four way #1 contender’s singles match. CZW is delivering for sure on their major shows and this was no different. Glad they worked out the iPPV issues and really hope everyone checks out the WSU show. It looked like a great card.

  1. Did Drake do any real ultraviolent stuff or just hardcore? Just curious, seeing as how he stopped doing deathmatches.

  2. It was tame by usual CZW deathmatch styles but it was fun. all in all a good show well worth the $15
