ROC IX Preview February is always a huge month for Premiere Wrestling Xperience and coming off an outstanding first three shows of the year the best Indy talent in the world will get together for their anniversary show Rise of a Champion IX. This 2 night event will feature two PWX title defenses, the final chapter in the feud between Los Ben Dejos and PWX tag team champions Worst Case Scenario as well as the best talent you'll find on ANY wrestling show ANYWHERE! It's my pleasure to take a look ahead at both of this huge weekend with my Rise of A Champion IX Preview! Rise of a Champion IX Night 1 2/15/14 Cabarrus Arena & Events Center Concord, NC Streaming Live on IPPV at www.highspots.com PWX Heavyweight Championship "The Midnight Son" Caleb Konley (c) -VS- "Kick 2 Kill" Cedric Alexander Konley & Alexander have been teaming for several years in PWX as the very popular Team 7OH!4 and have been good friends much longer. On night 1 of ROCIX these friends and partners finally meet 1 on 1 for the PWX championship. Fans have been wanting this match for sometime now so PWX officials have signed it. Caleb Konley has been champion for over a year and in his own words has "taken the title and the company to new heights as champion". Cedric Alexander has had tremendous success in his Dream Match Series over the last year holding victories over Jay Lethal, "The Whole SheBANG" Johnny Gargano, "The Sicilian Psychopath" Tommaso Ciampa, "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin & Kyle O'Reilly. Alexander is coming off his only PWX loss in the last year to "The Phenomenal One" AJ Styles but has his eyes set on taking the next step in his career and becoming PWX champion on February 15 in Concord. As if the implications weren't already big enough, the man who leaves Cabarrus Arena as champion will go on to face inaugural WrestleCade Champion "Stronger than Death" Matt Hardy on night 2 of ROCIX at Ziggy's in Winston Salem. Both championships will be on the line in this blockbuster main event. Who will leave Concord PWX champion? Will the partnership of Team 7OH!4 be intact? Or will the entire friendship of Caleb Konley and Cedric Alexander be a distant memory going into one of the biggest Indy shows of the year? PWX Tag Team Championship Worst Case Scenario-Ethan Case & Elijah Evans IV (c) & THE Tommy Thomas -VS- Los Ben Dejos- Jay Rios & Jay Cruz Since winning the PWX tag team titles over 3 months ago Worst Case Scenario have held onto those belts at any and all cost. No one has been a bigger threat to the reigning champions than Rios & Cruz, Los Ben Dejos. THE Tommy Thomas, the talent manager for WCS has been a big reason for the success of his clients, both directly and indirectly. Thomas has played a part in many of the outcomes of this feud to the point that PWX management is now considering Thomas to join his team in the ring at Rise of a Champion, and if Tommy is pinned it will result in his clients losing the titles which they've vowed to hold for "all time". As you can imagine, Thomas is STRONGLY objecting to his involvement in this match accusing PWX CEO/COO Brian Kanabroski and Los Ben Dejos of collusion and doing whatever they can to prevent his clients from remaining PWX tag champions. Thomas is even threatening legal action against the company as well as mentioning that if he is forced to compete he and his clients will take their titles and never return! Los Ben Dejos have gained pin falls over the champions but only in non title matches, so this February, whether or not THE Tommy Thomas is involved it is very possible that Rios and Cruz will take that next step and become PWX tag champions. Will PWX force the most hated man in PWX to stand beside his clients? If so does Tommy have any more tricks up his sleeve or has time run out for Worst Case Scenario? "I Quit" Match "The Manscout" Jake Manning -VS- "The Southern Savior" John Skyler Ever since May of last year at PWX 'Hunt For Gold' where PWX wrestlers were randomly paired by fans drawing names from a hat, Jake Manning and John Skyler have been linked in some way. Over that 9 month period, Skyler toured the UK with his 1/2 of the PWX tag titles the duo won in that Hunt for Gold tournament. Manning defended the championships by himself for 2 months until Skyler returned and wasted no time in officially ending his forced partnership with The Manscout by costing them the tag titles. Since that day the former partners have faced off many times with The Southern Savior holding the majority of wins in the feud. Skyler defeated Manning 1 on 1 via countout in 10 lashes match and the two have faced off in a series of "Dream Partner" tag matches. Most recently it was Jake who teamed with Hurricane Shane Helms defeating Skyler and his partner Kevin Steen. Rise of a Champion IX will see the most brutal chapter in the feud an "I Quit Match" The Manscout has vowed to fight honorably but there is no room for honor when trying to make your opponent scream I QUIT! Is Jake Manning prepared to do whatever it takes to teach Skyler a hard lesson once and for all? One thing is certain there is no love lost between these two and it will be the wildest, most brutal and perhaps decisive match yet from one of the hottest rivalries in all of PWX. ITV Title Match "Mr Elite" Drew Myers (c) -VS- "The Party Manimal" Zane Riley The PWX Innovative TV title will be defended at Rise of a Champion IX in a match featuring two guys whose careers have been on the upswing over the last year. Zane is certainly one of the most popular guys in all of PWX, his matches always have a party atmosphere, Zane will be looking to claim his first PWX championship can he postpone the celebration long enough to first get the job done? Mr. Elite Drew Myers had a career changing year in 2013, Elite got a huge win over Eddie Edwards which boosted his confidence to new highs and the young UNC graduate has now held the ITV title for several months. Can Drew hold onto that title? Or has he made the wrong enemy in The Party Manimal? Country Jacked (Adam Page & Corey Hollis) -VS- Dojo Bros Present: "Eddie & The Edwards)- Roderick Strong & Trent? Since forming Country Jacked back in November of 2013, Corey Hollis and Adam Page, along with DOC Gallows have been unstoppable and if you don't believe me, just ask them! Hollis has a huge singles win against one if the best wrestlers in the world, Davey Richards and Former homegrown fan favorite Adam Page has completely changed his attitude and as a result is earning great results, recently pinning PWX champ Caleb Konley in a tag team match, Konley's only loss in over a year. The newly formed faction won a big 4 team tag match last month and wasted no time asking for stiffer competition, in the form of former PWX tag champs & ROH superstars The Dojo Bros(Roderick Strong & Eddie Edwards). As we now know Edwards is contractually unable to compete with PWX, however Roddy took the challenge and has enlisted former underutilized WWE superstar and current Indy blue chipper Trent? These two will team up as "Eddie & The Edwards" accomodating Country Jacked on their request to face the best competition. How will the pairing of Strong & Trent? fair at Rise of a Champion? Has Country Jacked bitten off more than they can chew? One thing is for sure, the winner of this match should gain immediate recognition from the rest of the growing PWX tag team division. Mia Yim -VS- D'arcy Dixon Last month "The Ice Queen" Amber O'Neal made a statement asking PWX officials to bring in better women's talent and a PWX women's championship to allow her to prove she is the best. It looks as though PWX has listened as Mia Yim will return to PWX to face D'arcy Dixon at Rise of a Champion IX. Yim who has faced high caliber opponents all over the world was impressive in her last appearance with PWX but faces a tough challenge in D'arcy at Cabarrus Arena this weekend. Dixon appeared briefly in the past with PWX but mainly as a manager and has since enjoyed a lot of in ring success and is the reigning Resistance Pro Women's champion. Which lady will come out victorious at ROC IX? More importantly what implications will this match have on the possibilities of a women's championship in PWX? "Mr Standing 450" Rich Swann -VS- Lodi Since debuting last year in PWX, Rich Swann has electrified the crowds and become a can't miss part of every PWX event. Swann has danced and twerked..Yes! Twerked his way into the fans hearts but as most of you know Swann is also a phenomenally talented athlete and has scored big wins since his debut with PWX. Swann recently became # 1 contender to the PWX title and nearly became PWX champ in an outstanding match with Caleb Konley. The search for top competition continues for Swann who laid out an open challenge for ROC IX two weeks ago on PWX TV. We now know that challenge has been answered by another fan favorite and pro wrestling veteran former WCW superstar, Raven's Flock member "The Original Sign Guy" Lodi! On paper this may look like a odd matchup but Lodi has enjoyed success in PWX over the last couple years. The Lodi Monster returned last month to PWX and picked up an impressive win against a great high flyer and up and coming Indy breakout star Andrew Everett. Can experience defeat agility once again? Or will Rich Swann have reason to dance in Concord by defeating The Sign Guy and solidifying himself as a top contender in PWX? Lance Lude -VS- "King of Swerve" Shane Strickland -VS- "Mr. MOTN" Anthony Henry This 3 way dance could very well be a show stealer! Lance Lude, a PWX regular and constant work horse with tremendous ability gets the opportunity to shine with two impressive opponents. Shane Strickland hasn't been to PWX in several months but the CZW mainstay impressed everyone on his last visit and will look to pick up where he left off. Anthony Henry is a Georgia based independent wrestler making his debut in PWX this February. Henry consistently earns his moniker "Mr. Match of the Night" putting on show stealing performances everywhere he is booked. This match will be wild from start to finish and when it's done, the newest rising star in PWX may be decided.
