Even before Wrestlemania changed all of our lives and made us rediscover why we deal with the stupidity of professional wrestling in the first place, Jerome Cusson and Ryan Rozanski came together after each WWN show to look the shows. We break down all five WWN shows: Evolve 28, A Wrestling Odyssey, Open the Ultimate Gate, Shimmer 62, and Mercury Rising. Des Delgadillio joins Jerome and Ryan for the AOW portion while Jennifer Lodgson joins the duo for Shimmer 62. The good, the bad, the ugly, and the ABSOLUTE DIRT WORST (hint: it involves, Larry Dallas, Teddy Hart, a cat, Chuck Taylor, and poor Biff Busick) of the weekend that was are examined. Three hours of content. All yours for free. If you haven’t heard about these shows (and judging by the attendance/conversation on Twitter you haven’t), consider this a chance to catch up. We strongly recommend rewatching Wrestlemania (minus a certain match) after this podcast to get the good vibes going again.

  1. Just a few things to say. Great 3 hours. Enjoyed it immensely. Both of you, Ryan and Jerome deserve a lot of credit.
So at an EVOLVE/DGUSA show someone uses the FIP title to hit someone. I complain there should not be EVOLVE and DGUSA separate champs. But then someone uses another WWN/Gabe run promotion title belt for a crappy finish. Beyond ridiculous.

Many shames about the EVOLVE/DGUSA situation. When I saw the Dragon Gate matches in ROH in 2006 – 2008 I was blown away. Thus when I heard of DGUSA I had very high expectations that this was basically the Dragon Gate company but in US which was an amazing thought. I would say AR Fox, Rich Swann and Ricochet wrestle in the same fast pace, impressive moves like Dragon Gate, but the rest is very similar to any other American wrestling company. Part of the problem I think is Evolve being joined at the hip with DGUSA. Realistically it is no different then Raw and Smackdown. Two different Brands, but same company and get mixed together so often, it should be called Monday Night WWE and Friday Night WWE. Gabe should pick one name Evolve or DGUSA and call all of his shows that brand. Because at this point there is no difference.
About the AR Fox v. Mr A. match. Someone explained maybe Gabe was channeling his ECW days where many matches had tons and I means tons of interference and the match was never ended and they had a winner. Now you two both talked a lot about the audience and this is where Gabe seems to have really misjudged his audience.
I think the real shame is Open the Ultimate Gate was a great show and had one of the best matches and halves of one show possibly ever and yet by the end of the weekend most will remember the negatives of Gabe’s companies, which there were many.
I said it before, if there was only Open the Ultimate Gate 2014 and WrestleMania 30 you have one of the greatest weekends for wresling fans ever.
