You can watch the episode here on AAW Pro’s Youtube Channel. Hosted by Phil Colvin and Derek St. Holmes, featuring matches from Windy City Classic 2013 (review here) and One Twisted Christmas 2013 (review here).

Keith Walker w/ Kevin Harvey and Nikki vs. LOSERS (Moondog Bernard and Seaman) w/ Arnold Pressly

The crowd loves Seaman. Neither of the LOSERS can shake the bigger man, outside of a low blow. While this match is longer than you would think, Walker was in control most of the time. Commentary even called this match a squash before it was over. Walker pinned both men at the same time. Not a good match by any means, but it was funny and the crowd goes wild for Seaman.

Harvey and Walker attack Pressly after the match.

LOSERS celebrate making it to the main show and surviving Keith Walker.

St. Holmes and Colvin look back at 10 years of AAW. A highlight video of the last ten years. A good tribute to the stars past and present.

Ethan Page approaches Michael Elgin. Page kisses up to Elgin. The two men talk about Josh Alexander‘s prolapsed anus (with a special cameo from Kevin Steen). Page propositions Elgin with matching tights, offering him a chance at the tag titles.

Kung Fu Manchu (Marion Fontaine and Louis Lyndon) (c) vs. Zero Gravity (Brett Gakiya and CJ Esparza) vs. Men of the Year (Michael Elgin and Ethan Page)

Elgin and Page have some differences of opinion early on, while the two other teams show off their athleticism. It’s fun to see Elgin part of the humorous third of the match. Page is more devious than Elgin wants to be, but he’s also a lot more eager about this partnership. It’s a phenomenal dynamic. Elgin and Page are the stronger men, but they don’t just throw around the smaller teams; the superior cooperation of both Kung Fu Manchu and Zero Gravity allow them not only to hold their own, but to control the match for extended periods of time. In the end, Elgin’s strength and Page’s cleverness allow the dysfunctional team to pin both of the more experienced teams.

Page’s enthusiasm to be Elgin’s partner is what really makes the duo work. They are not two enemies who teamed together just for gold or because an authority figure forced them together: Page considers Elgin his friend, even if the feeling isn’t returned, and he wants them to be the kind of tag team that both Kung Fu Manchu and Zero Gravity are. It’s a fresh take on it, and Men of the Year are currently the biggest reason to check in on AAW in 2014. This match was a spawning for them, and while I wish it didn’t overshadow the end of Kung Fu Manchu’s title reign (Lyndon and Fontaine were on the apron most of the time, were not part of the final decision), I believe the ends justify the means here. The match itself was very entertaining throughout. Watch this match.

This episode was a lot of fun. Both LOSERS and Men of the Year, in very different ways, put a smile on the face. While the wrestling quality between the two teams is vastly different (the tag title match was fantastic, the LOSERS match was there), they both have an emphasis on characters that draws the crowd into both. It’s hard not to be happy watching them. In that way, this is probably one of my favorite episodes. While some of the other episodes are higher in match quality, this one was consistently entertaining. And really, isn’t that what it’s all about?
