Hello friends. I must say I’m quite excited about this years Best of the Super Jr. tournament. Good amount of ROH guys are represented which was no doubt by design as New Japan sets it’s sights on America. Our first night of the Best of the Super Jr. 24 comes to use from Korauen Hall in Tokyo. Let’s take a look at the results.

Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Taka Michinoku
Winner
: Taka Michinoku at 8:53. Taka gets Liger with a double leg cradle for the win after a finger poke to the eye, or mask I suppose.

Tiger Mask vs. Volador Jr.
Winner
: Volador Jr. at 9:48. Volador hits a Spanish Fly to Tiger Mask for the win.

Ricochet vs. Taichi
Winner
: Ricochet at 8:56. Ricochet puts away the singing sensation, Taichi with a Shooting Star Press.

ACH vs. Bushi
Winner
: ACH at 10:47. ACH pins my new friend Bushi (see twitter profile photo @Eddyc85) with the Midnight Driver. A very good match.

Kushida vs. El Desperado
Winner
: El Desperado at 11:42. El Desperado wins with the Guitarra de Angel. Worth noting Desperado cheated a lot throughout the match, and did tap out to the Hoverboard Lock but the ref was knocked down.

Will Ospreay vs. Marty Scurll
Winner
: Marty Scurll at 12:11. The newest member of the Bullet Club wins by countering the OsCutter into the Chicken Wing in a very fun match.

Rysuke Taguchi vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Winner
: Rysuke Taguchi at 11:27. Taguchi kicked Kanemura into Taka who was up on the apron then just won with a small package.

Dragon Lee vs. Hiromu Takahashi
Winner
: Dragon Lee at 18:56. Lee wins it with the Phoenix-plex in a really fantastic match. Please seek this one out.

The first day was really good, some fun matches for sure and it definitely set the table for what we can expect for the rest of the tournament. Obviously the best matches on the show were Dragon Lee/Takahashi and Scurll/Ospreay and if I were to make a not so bold prediction, I’d say all four men will have really strong runs.

Block A is tough to pick from but Block B is too since it seems to lack the star power that A has. I wouldn’t be shocked if Block B came down to ACH and Kushida with Volador Jr. maybe coming in third.

Let’s take a look at the standings.

Block A Standings
Dragon Lee – 2
Marty Scurll – 2
Ricochet – 2
Taka Michinoku – 2
Hiromu Takahashi – 0
Jushin Thunder Liger – 0
Taichi – 0
Will Ospreay – 0

Block B Standings

ACH – 2
El Desperado – 2
Rysuke Taguchi – 2
Volador Jr. – 2
Bushi – 0
Kushida – 0
Tiger Mask – 0
Yoshinobu Kanemaru – 0

Like I said before you can follow me on twitter at Eddyc85 and or PIWShow. Check out my latest podcast, “Politically Incorrect Wrestling Show” on iTunes, Stitcher, or Podbean where I talk about my trip up to Michigan/Canada to watch the ROH/NJPW show and hear a story about the border patrol quizzing me on wrestling and what other wrestling legend was also detained at the Canadian/US border a few weeks prior.
