Hotel:

the Official FanCon Hotel is The Ramada Burlington Hotel & Conference Center located at 2703 Ramada Rd, Burlington, NC 27215.

The Ramada’s phone number is 366-290-6546

We have a group rate of $85/night (plus tax) for double rooms (2 beds). Those interested in a single bed room are encouraged to call and inquire using our group rate code, but the group rate is for double-bed rooms. The code to use when calling to get the group rate for our event is “CWF FanCon”

Rooms will be held exclusively for our group rate up until 2 weeks before (September 29th). At that point rooms will still get the same group rate if available, but availability is not guaranteed. We recommend making plans and reserving a room if possible before that date (3 local colleges have a football games that weekend, so we don’t want people getting left out).

Fans looking to save money are encouraged to partner with other fans in an attempt to save money via the doubles reserved for our group (rooms w/ two beds)

Your stay will include a FREE breakfast buffet that is apparently better than most meals you pay for at breakfast, so a meal Saturday and Sunday morning is taken care of

The Ramada also boasts the following:

Schedule of Events:
NOTE – CWF FanCon events are optional, and only the Friday group dinner and the CWF Rumble will cost fans anything to attend. Information on costs below in schedule

Friday

6pm – Meet-Up & Dinner at the CWF Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium:
– We are estimating $10/head for a group dinner and welcome party at the venue for fully catered local Italian cuisine. Get to meet everyone, some CWF staff may stop by to say hello, and guests of honor Brad Stutts (CWF Creative Head & Lead Announcer) & Grant Sawyer (CWF Head of Production) will arrive for a meal & our Featured event of the evening.

8-9:45pm – Stuttsy & Grant Q&A/Panel Discussion:

-We’ll be doing a somewhat relaxed and informal Q&A Panel discussion w/ Brad Stutts & Grant Sawyer after our meal. Ask all about CWF, their thoughts on wrestling history, and modern products. Please be polite and respect our guests, as well as understand there are certain things they may not want to talk about. Podcasters are welcome to tape the panel for future use, though the building is a void for internet/live streaming and phone service.

9:45pm-11pm – Viewing of Top CWF Matches (selected by fans/committee):

-This is a fun little event we are trying out that leads into our late night event back at the hotel. We’re forming a small committee to select the Top 3 matches in CWF history, along with input from fans coming to the event via Twitter. The matches will be shown on the famed Sawyertron video screen in the Sportatorium immediately after the Stutts/Sawyer panel. This will be contentious, but we all love CWF, and matches not chosen will be shown along with other requests at our late night event back at the hotel. We want to be respectful & out of the venue by 11pm (they have that show the next day, after all), so if we have to cut a match short they’ll be screened back at the hotel.

Late Night event:

-Feel free to grab some beers on our way back to the hotel, as we plan on having an informal old-school “Tape watching party” in multiple rooms of the hotel. In the tradition of fan conventions going back to the 1980s, when fans came from across the country to gather and brought VHS tapes to share from random territories, we’ll be using modern technology (hard drives, streaming services, etc to watch wrestling and hang with friends. We’ll have A CWF room where we’ll continue what we started at the venue, a Carolina/Crockett-specific Territories Room, and a Modern Room for things of the moment like Matt Riddle matches or New Japan, Euro feds, and even WWE. Rooms will be announced once we have room numbers, and anyone who wants to volunteer a room/laptop/HDMI/Online Service/footage, feel free to let FanCon organizers John Philapavage (@johnphilapavage) or Jeremy Bryant (@jbryant025) know.

Saturday:

10am – 12:30pm – Q&A/Panel Discussions w/ stars of CWF:

-We’ll be having a Q&A panel discussion w/ the stars of CWF back at the Sportatorium Saturday morning, meaning we’ll have 75% vetted questions that you can submit by sending in to John and JB, and 25% open floor questions at the end. We’ve set it up this way as a precaution because so many Q&As are derailed by fans asking very specific questions of wrestlers that they cannot remember, or just being unaware of how to properly conduct themselves in social situations.

-Already confirmed: Michael McAlister, CL Party, Dirty Daddy, Mitch Connor, Cain Justice, Arik Royal, Aric Andrews, Snooty Foxx, Kamikaze Kid, The Coach, Nick Richards, Smith Garrett and Amber Gertner. More names will be added, and as always card is subject to change

*Any podcaster can tape these panels*

After the first panel (roughly 10:45-11am until about 1pm) – Podcast Alley:

Live & live-to-tape podcasts w/ stars of CWF and live crowd interaction. We encourage podcasters to set up shop in a special area where we’ll be funneling CWF personnel from Q&A/Discussion panels to pods, equally distributed, with 10 minute time limits so everyone gets a chance. We also encourage the podcasters to differentiate some questions and content, even people they interview. If you’re a podcaster w/ a history of shows and a few interviews, submit a request to @johnphilapavage or @jbryant025 linking up to your work somehow. We’ll get back to you about participating. *This will need to be going on during any panels after the first, so be aware you may miss some content. However, you can also record the panels w/ a device left while you podcast*

*There are a few other events in the works that are not definite yet. If and when they become confirmed, we’ll announce via our Twitters (@johnphilapavage & @jbryant025) as well as hopefully the CWF Twitter, and the events will be added to this document, available 24/7/365*

2pm/Mid-Afternoon – Late lunch/early dinner break. There probably won’t be a specific location, so this may end up being your time to explore or make friends with more fans. Daytime events are over. If any events are added, this will be the slot

Featured Event:

7pm – CWF Rumble at the CWF Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium:

-tickets are not currently on sale, but when CWF makes them available they will be at this site: https://cwf247.ecwid.com/#!/Tickets/c/6585689/offset=0&sort=nameAsc

We will make sure when tickets go on sale everyone is reminded several times over. Options include General Admission, VIP seats, and the Kernodle Brothers Suite (luxury box) *Tickets need to be purchases by those attending online at the site above, or at the door night of the show. CWF show tickets are not included in our FanCon event(s).

The hotel shuttle is first come first serve and can only be handled at the desk. We will do our best to get the hotel shuttle for the event, but if not there will be a coordination of travel between our guests who do not have cars and our guests who do and have room for passengers. Simply put – Sportatorium parking can be tough, and some will need rides or have space. Let’s all try to carpool where we can.

Post-show:

Hooters (3122 Garden Rd, Burlington, NC 27216) will be our local post-show party hang out, located right off of Rt. 40, offering drinks and food. Bring your own money and hang out with your fellow CWF FanCon guests, as well as any CWF personnel that comes to the establishment. If wrestlers or CWF staff do show up for post-show meal and drinks, do say hi, do buy them a beer, do engage them in conversation, but don’t bother them or be a jerk/nuisance. Know your boundaries and have a great time.

Sunday:

Check out of hotel. Go home. We did it. Tell your friends. We start planning, see what worked, what didn’t, and you come back next year.
