In 2013, I started to hear a lot of buzz surrounding Beyond Wrestling, all due to a feud between two Boston natives, Biff Busick and Eddie Edwards. The promotion was established in 2009 in Ohio but after the Ohio independent wrestling scene became over-saturated, Beyond moved to the New England area. The company began being noticed due to their YouTube channel which features a ton of free matches. Their popularity was growing and as their popularity grew, there was a demand for live shows.
Biff Busick and Eddie Edwards headlined the first annual Americanrana event which took place on July 21, 2013 in Providence, Rhode Island. Around 300 fans were in attendence at the Fete Music venue on the night that also included matches such as Drew Gulak vs. Chris Dickinson and Kevin Steen vs. MASADA. The first time Busick and Edwards met inside a Beyond Wrestling ring was in the event prior to Americanrana. Busick defeated Edwards in the first encounter before losing the rematch at Americanrana. Several months later at the Tournament for Tomorrow 2 event the rubber match took place. The two squared of in a 60 minute Iron Man match in which Busick came out on top, one fall to zero.
Biff Busick became the top guy in Beyond by headlining most of their events and defeating guys like Matt Tremont, Timothy Thatcher, and Michael Bennett. In what would be his last appearance at Beyond Wrestling, Busick defeated Drew Gulak, Timothy Thatcher, and his biggest rival in the promotion, Eddie Edwards in a round robin style tournament.
With the absence of Busick in Beyond, Ring of Honor’s 2015 Top Prospect winner, Donovan Dijak became the new face of Beyond Wrestling. In Dijak’s first few months there he defeated both Eddie Edwards and Biff Busick. It was apparent from the start that the 6 foot 5″ athlete would be the top guy in Beyond. For a whole year and a half Dijak defeated names such as Chris Hero, Sami Callihan, Tommaso Ciampa, Tommy End, Zack Sabre Jr. and plenty of other top talents. Dijak continued to have high profile matches against Matt Riddle, Brian Cage, Joey Janela and David Starr. At his last event for Beyond, Dijak defeated WALTER at Bye Bye Beautiful on August 13, 2017. In Dijak’s post match farewell speech, he said Ring of Honor may have gotten him a lot of buzz but Beyond Wrestling made him a star.

Mr. Americanrana David Starr has been claiming that he is the ace if Beyond Wrestling. In 2014 David Starr started to team with JT Dunn and they became known as the Juicy Product. They started to make waves in independent wrestling and became one of the top tag teams in not only Beyond but in the world. At Americanrana 2014, the Juicy Product went toe to toe with one of the best tag teams ever, the Young Bucks. Even with the Young Bucks coming out on top, it created a lot of buzz for Dunn and Starr.
JT Dunn later began to team with his idol Chris Hero and they became known as Death By Elbow. Starr and Dunn then went on to feud and after the split, Starr had to scratch, claw and earn his way back to the top of Beyond, but now as a singles competitor. In 2016, Starr defeated names such as Eddie Edwards, AR Fox, Johnny Gargano, and others. He defeated the face of promotion, Donovan Dijak at this year’s Americanrana. Starr returned to Beyond Wrestling after a 3 month absence by defeating “The Governor” Martin Stone and then Nick Gage in a No Disqualification Match.

Joey Janela may not have the win-loss record that Starr has, but in 2017 the Bad Boy became one of the top guys in Beyond. He went on a winning streak while teaming with Penelope Ford during the first half of 2017, defeating teams such as Da Hit Squad and the World’s Cutest Tag Team. Janela started to main event a number of shows including Beyond Wrestling’s biggest show of a year Americanrana. The event had Janela defeating Matt Riddle, who at the time was undefeated. Not only did defeat Riddle but he made him tap-out. He also main evented the following show, which was one of the most important shows in Beyond history. Far Beyond Wrestling on September 24th was the first ever iPPV streamed live on Powerbomb.TV. Janela defeated AR Fox in a crazy main event and after the match Janela claimed that he’s the ace of Beyond Wrestling.
On New Years, while most people are watching the ball drop and kissing their significant others at midnight, David Starr and Joey Janela will be beating the crap out of eachother in a Fans Bring The Weapons Match. On New Years Eve, Beyond Wrestling is hosting their final event of the year, Heavy Lies the Crown. The event will take place at the White Eagle in Worchester, Massachusetts.
