Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show. Three matches tonight will be for Aztec Medallions, including the main event between Cage and Mil Muertes. Cortez Castro is in the ring to start the show. Antonio Cueto gets on the microphone to mention how Cortez is a police officer, and it’s good he’s here. Cueto is here to report a homicide… But he won’t call it a murder, rather a SACRIFICE TO THE GODS!

“Sacrifice to the Gods”: Matanza Cueto vs. Cortez Castro

This one was even shorter than last week, with Castro getting sent off the ropes and immediately eating a Tour of the Islands. We’ll see how long these little scarifies last, until someone finally can take down, or even come close to stopping Matanza.

Winner: Matanza Cueto

Match Rating: NR

For an Aztec Medallion: Joey Ryan vs. Ivelisse

This was a fun little match, with Ivelisse getting a lot in, alongside Joey’s fun tactics. Leave it to Striker and Vampiro to make this match 10X more entertaining than it should’ve been. Anyways, Ivelisse gets the win and holds an Aztec Medallion. I could easily see Jeremiah Crane returning from the dead to cost her the Gift of the Gods Championship, but it might be a bit too early. Anyways, Joey Ryan always has fun little matches, and this was no different. They got some solid time to work, and I believe the finish was a bit flat, but it was all about Ivelisse here.

Winner: Ivelisse

Match Rating: **3/4

Before our next match, Antonio Cueto says that three champions in a match with one medallion on the line doesn’t make a lot of sense. As a promoter, he wants to make things as great as possible, therefore this next match is for TWO Ancient Aztec Medallions. The winner gets the one, and whoever isn’t pinned or submitted will get the second.

For TWO Aztec Medallions: Killshot vs. Son of Havoc vs. The Mack

This was a very fun three way, with Mack shining the most, and Killshot sporting a new attitude. Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see how long these three can hold the Trios titles, knowing they probably won’t be on the same page, and Killshot could have a full heel turn coming up. These three could’ve easily killed it in a 10 minute sprint, but instead we got a lot of one-on-one interactions here, but they were usually always good. The ending sequence was great, with Mack having both Havoc and Killshot down and out, as he hesitated, before deciding to finally pin Killshot and pick up the win, giving himself and Son of Havoc the medallions.

Winner: The Mack (Son of Havoc also picks up a Medallion)

Match Rating: ***1/4

For an Aztec Medallion: Mil Muertes w/Catrina vs. Cage

Some will probably hate this match, due to how overbooked it was (taking out three referee’s, the chair, Pentagon’s involvement, etc.) but I thought this was A BLAST. Both men looked like absolute beasts, and it was a great hoss battle, until the first referee got knocked down. After that, Muertes and Cage took out the referee’s, and took their fighting to a new level in the crowd. The Pentagon involvement was so well done, and the crowd blew up for it. That unprotected head shot was absolutely brutal. Muertes finished off the job in the ring, which led to our post match angle. Awesome stuff here.

Winner: Mil Muertes

Match Rating: ***1/2

After the match, Pentagon grabbed a microphone and said that even though Cage lost tonight, he will still be giving Cage a shot at the Lucha Underground Championship.

The Rabbit Tribe is altogether, and then Mascarita says a white rabbit will see them. They all creepily leave, and a voice says “I have been waiting for you”. A man sits on a chair in the background, as they all kneel down to him. The man sitting on the chair is KILLER KROSS! He wants Paul London to kill Mascarita, which he successfully does… To say the least. Kross says that they’ll see how far the Rabbit Tribe is willing to go.

Final Thoughts:

All action from Lucha Underground this week, and it was an absolute blast. Last week there were four matches as well, but this week the matches had meaning, got quite a bit of time, and all were enjoyable in they’re own way. We got Matanza killing Cortez, a fun match between Ivelisse and Joey, a great three way from the Trios Champs, and finally an overbooked main event that absolutely rocked. Add that on top of the interesting post match angle, and you have a great episode of Lucha Underground. Such a good rebound from last week’s rather below average effort.

Final Rating: 7.7/10
