Live from the Most Precious Blood Youth Center in Brooklyn, NY. Lenny Leonard and Ron Niemi announce the two title matches of the night. Both Joey Janela and Matt Riddle get huge reactions.

The action starts off with Evolve’s newest signee, Josh Briggs, taking on international star Bad Bones. Bad Bones looks to pick up an early victory with a dropkick to Briggs sending him to the corner. Bones goes for the pin but gets only a 2 count. Bones takes an early advantage in the match until he tries to hit a second lowpe suicida. Bones gets caught by Briggs and receives a chokeslam onto the apron. The match goes back and forth until Briggs hits his M5 finisher (chokeslam lumbar check). This was a good opening match that got the Brooklyn crowd hot.

Jarek 1:20 makes his entrance, along with the lovely Candy Cartwright. Jarek is met with loud boos and chants of “disappear.” He grabs a mic and says that he made Jason Kincaid disappear and he will also make Darby Allin disappear. Jon Davis then makes his way to the ring, and the two have an unadvertised match. Davis uses his size and power throughout the match. Jarek attempts a crossbody from the second rope but gets caught into a back breaker and is planted face first into the mat. Looked pretty brutal. Davis later attempts his finisher, 3 Seconds Around the World but that’s countered into a rana. A superkick from Jarek is unable to put the big man down. Davis wins shortly after with a Powerbomb, German Suplex, Lariat combo. Good match from both these competitors. This might’ve been one of Jarek’s best in Evolve up to this point. Jon Davis looked great and his offense looked brutal. Jarek’s selling was also great.

AR Fox along with Ayla Fox and the Skulk make their entrance. Fox makes the introductions as it’s Tommy Maseratti and Leon Ruff facing Liam Grey and Adrian Alanis. Ruff is the standout in this match and gets the crowd to their feet early in the match after showing off his great athleticism. Alanis and Grey work on Maserati. When it seems like Maserati is going to make the tag to Ruff, Ruff gets pulled off the apron and Maserati tags his opponent Grey. Ruff makes the hot tag shortly after and has some unique offense. Eventually Ruff takes a lungblower from Alanis and a splash off the top rope from Grey. Alanis and Grey pick up the victory. This was a fun showcase match between the WWA4 students. All students have a bright future, especially Leon Ruff.

Fox grabs the mic and says let’s keep the party going. DJZ makes his entrance. DJZ and Fox have a back and forth exchange until Fox counters a crusher with a handstand into a leg drop. Crowd starts to chant “that was awesome.” DJZ gains the early advantage until Ayla puts on DJZ’s helmet and starts to mock him. The distraction causes Fox to hit a coast to coast dropkick on DJZ as he’s entering the ring. The match had a lot of great action. Low Mein Pain doesn’t put DJZ away. Fox attempts a 450 splash but DJZ gets his knees up and rolls him up for only a 2 count. DJZ attempts a corkscrew moonsault but Fox moves out of the way. Fox immediately hits the fox catcher for the win. This was a really good match with a lot of fun high spots.

Next up is Darby Allin vs. WALTER. Both men get huge reactions from the crowd. Darby tries to take the early advantage with a dive to the outside but is caught by WALTER and is thrown back first into the ring post. WALTER dominates the match early on as Darby starts to bleed from the mouth. The match turns around when WALTER goes for a chop but Darby dodges and WALTER’s hand hits the ringpost. Darby counters a powerbomb into a code red. WALTER continues to take Darby down with chops but now it effects his hurt hand. Darby starts to attack the hand. WALTER catches Darby off a springboard and puts him into the Gojira Clutch. Darby counters into a pin for the win a la Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper from Wrestlemania 8. Post match WALTER hits a big boot on Darby and the crowd immediately boos him. Both men played their parts well. This was one of the best David vs. Goliath style matches I’ve ever seen.

Back from intermission and it’s Bryan Idol (aka Earl Cooter) facing off against the Brooklyn native Mike Verna. The crowd is very pro Verna. Verna hits Idol with a rana off the top rope which almost dumps Idol on his head. Idol hits a cool double jump moonsault. The match ends when Verna misses a swanton bomb and Idol hits his finisher for the win. Not much to say about this match other than Idol looked lost throughout the match.

The following is a grudge match as Anthony Henry, Timothy Thatcher and Tracy Williams, who all has had issues with Catch Point in the past, team up against Chris Dickinson, Jaka and Dominic Garrini. The match had a lot of brawling between the teams on the outside. Thatcher held Jaka as Henry went for a double stomp from the top rope but Jaka moves and Henry ends up hitting Thatcher. Jaka rolls up Henry for the win. Post match Thatcher hits Henry with an enziguri out of frustration.

Next up is the first of two title matches, this one for the WWN Championship. Joey Janela is clearly the crowd favorite going into the match against Austin Theory. Janela starts off quick with a tope suicida. Janela delivers a Death Valley Driver on the apron which draws a big reaction with the crowd. Theory avoids a top rope double stomp and hits a Theory KO for only a 2 count. Penelope Ford hits a crossbody from the top rope to the outside on Priscilla Kelly. Janela sets up Theory on the top rope but Theory hits an avalanche TKO but still can’t put Janela away. Janela wins the match with a top rope Brainbuster and there is a new WWN Champion. This was a great match that might be Theory’s best match in Evolve. Janela had a great debut as he continues to show why he’s one of the top stars in independent wrestling.

Shane Strickland makes his entrance with a new attitude that he’s shown in Evolve 104 and 105. As the Evolve Champion Matt Riddle makes his entrance he is attacked from behind from Strickland. Strickland dominates most of the match from the beginning, attacking the left arm of Riddle. Riddle comes back with a powerbomb and knee combo but can’t put Strickland away. Riddle can’t continue the momentum and is powerslammed on the apron and receives a Swerve Stomp. After the nearfall Strickland goes back to Riddle’s hurt arm. Riddle ends up knocking out referee Brandon Tolle with a knee. The two men battle to the back and Strickland ends up pulling down the curtain where the Evolve “locker room” was. The roster carries Strickland into the ring. Strickland then takes out everyone with a summersault planca. Riddle then pulls Strickland into the ring and puts him to sleep with the Bromission. There is no official announcement made but it seems like the match is called off. Very awkward ending to the match just to further the feud between the two. The match itself is a stepdown from their Evolve 104 encounter. Riddle grabs the mic and thanks everyone for coming out.

Overall: Evolve continues to deliver great shows and Evolve 106 is no exception. The Brooklyn crowd was hot the entire night and so was the action. Darby Allin and WALTER had a match of the year candidate. Everything else was either good to great with the exception of one match. Check this one out.
