Taya and Johnny Mundo are in the back, as Mundo plays with his gauntlet. Mundo is about to go warm up, and then goes into a daze of the power of the gauntlet. Taya will be at ringside with him tonight. If Mundo’s somehow sacrificed tonight, he lets Taya know he loves her… BUT THE CREEPY DOLL ALSO SAYS I LOVE YOU TOO! The creepy doll compliments Taya, but Taya didn’t have to do anything to make him talk! The creepy doll stops with the compliments, and says Taya will look even better as a ghost?

Matt Striker and Vampiro welcome us to the show (for maybe the final time ever…) and say they have no time to waste. Time to Lucha!

2 out of 3 Falls: Fenix vs. Dragon Azteca Jr.

This was an absolutely awesome match, completely different than what you’d expect knowing the two involved. With a Death Match, and a Cero Miedo match later on in the show, I wasn’t a big fan of the third fall being turned into Falls Count Anywhere, but they played to the stipulation well, and made this into a slow, personal, and absolutely brutal war. Melissa’s involvement was very well done, as it makes sense that she wanted Dragon to stop the violence, and for these two to be friends again. The first two falls were pretty short, but served a purpose, and they picked it up in the third fall, and made this into a GREAT match. Fenix winning makes a ton of sense, and Melissa walking out, and not announcing the winner was perfectly done.

Winner: Fenix

Match Rating: ****

Melissa Santos has left the building, and won’t be returning. Antonio Cueto announces the new guest ring announcer for the evening… Shaul GuerreroThis leads Famous B to come out, because he does the guest ring announcing around here. He wants Shaul to leave, because he doesn’t know who she is, or her family, and hands her his business card. Shaul gives a classic “excuse me” and says she doesn’t know who Famous B is either. After going through her family, and getting a huge pop for Eddie, she says Guerrero’s are warriors and throws the card back at Famous “Bitch”. Famous B calls her stupid for not leaving, and says he’s going to make her leave as he throws off his coat, but that brings Chavo Guerrero into the ring! Chavo hits Famous B, and sends him into Shaul, who hits the Three Amigos! Chavo goes up top and hits the Frog Splash as they throw Famous B out of the ring. Cheap pops!!

Death Match: Mil Muertes vs. The Mack

The Mack is such a great babyface, and The Believers add so much for Mack in matches like these. Mack wouldn’t stay down, he kept fighting, and no matter how much Mil threw at him, no matter how much he had to throw at Mil, The Mack dug deep enough to pull out the win. With some very unique weapons involved (including an Axe), Muertes cut open the Mack early, but Mack came back, ripped open the mask of Muertes, and eventually hit Muertes with two stunners, a brick, and then a third stunner to get the win. At the first Ultima Lucha, Mil Muertes won the Lucha Underground Championship with Catrina and his Disciples, now three years later, he got placed into a coffin, with no Disciples, and Catrina dead…

Winner: The Mack

Match Rating: ***1/2

Antonio Cueto comes out, talking very quickly, saying that Gauntlet doesn’t belong to Johnny, and he won’t be bringing it back to Slamtown with him. Once it’s all done with, Mundo will be the next Sacrifice to the Gods!

Sacrifice to the Gods: Johnny Mundo vs. Matanza

While a bit too gimmicky for my liking, this was a good match, with a focused story, and it all made sense. Mundo had the Gauntlet, but it quickly got thrown off, and Matanza dominated for a good portion of the match. Matanza ended up throwing the Gauntlet up by the Ice Chamber, which Mundo had to use his parkour skills to get. A good portion of the match was Mundo running away, and trying to get the gauntlet. Once Mundo finally got the gauntlet on, he seemed unstoppable, only to get hit with a TOUR OF THE ISLANDS! Mundo became the first wrestler to kick out of the move, and this was the perfect time to pull that out. Mundo hit Matanza with the gauntlet a few times, while flipping off Antonio Cueto in the process. The finish was a bit flat, but Mundo got the job done, thanks to the Gauntlet.

Winner: Johnny Mundo

Match Rating: ***1/4

Johnny Mundo goes to the back with his gauntlet, but is blinded by the lights of Aerostar. Aerostar says they’re even now, and ignores Johnny’s question about where Taya is. Aerostar wants the gauntlet back, because the gauntlet is going to control Johnny’s body. Johnny doesn’t want to give it back, but Aerostar begs before it’s too late… Johnny gives it back and says he’s going to go celebrate with his wife (remember, Aerostar never answered his question of where she is, and this all could very well go back to the opening segment).

Cero Miedo – Lucha Underground Championship: Marty the Moth (c) vs. Pentagon Dark

Violence, brutality, blood… How many words can I use to describe this one? Marty was busted open real early on, and the blood kept dripping and dripping, an absolutely beautiful and brutal vision that can only fit in the temple. There’s a reason there has only been one other Cero Miedo match in Lucha Underground history. These two threw absolutely everything they had at each other, whether it was with chairs, a table, glass, a barbed wire bat, or even Marty trying to set Pentagon on fire. This ruled.

Winner: Pentagon Dark

Match Rating: ****1/4

Reklusa comes in after the match and tries to jump Pentagon, but Vampiro enters the ring and makes the save! Vampiro presents Pentagon with the Championship, only for Vampiro to hit a low blow on Pentagon, and a brawl breaks out between the two. Soon enough, someone eerie makes his way down, AND VAMPIRO SAYS IT’S HIS MASTER?! The master hits a shooting star off the balcony onto Pentagon, and then another inside the ring. That was so well done and leaves us with a thousand more questions. Now Jake Strong comes out, and says Antonio is letting him cash in whenever he wants, please no…

Lucha Underground Championship: Pentagon Dark (c) vs. Jake Strong

Strong locked in the ankle lock, and ripped apart Pentagon’s ankle, but Pentagon never tapped. From everything he just went through in the Cero Miedo match, to what happened with Vampiro afterwards, to this. Pentagon faded, never tapped, but in the end the mind games of Jake Strong reigned supreme.

Winner: Jake Strong

Match Rating: NR

Dragon Azteca Jr. meets with King Cuerno and Aerostar, saying they need to strike now to get the advantage. Aerostar hands over the Gauntlet to Dragon Azteca. BLACK LOTUS HAS THE GAUNTLET! She realizes that Matanza is the one who killed her parents, AND SHE KILLS MATANZA! Jake Strong (with the Lucha Underground title) beats up Dragon Azteca and snaps his ankle, saying the Gauntlet doesn’t belong to him, it belongs to us. Strong pounds the bloody Gauntlet on his chest as he shouts “Strong”.

Mundo makes his way to the back and finds Taya, saying he thought she’d be in his corner. Mundo is happy he did it by himself, but Taya says she isn’t his wife and chokes Mundo, slamming him against the lockers and picking him up, THEN SAYS SHE’S A GOD?!

Cueto meets with Agent Winter, and says the Lucha Underground Championship is back in their control. Some creepy voice speaks, as Strong enters the limo with the gold. They ask Strong who’s blood he has, and he announces Matanza, as Antonio gets all sad. The mystery man is… STU BENNETT?! This gives us a flashback to one year ago, where Antonio puts Dario away in the coffin, only for Aerostar to open it with the full ancient aztec medallion, and he places it around Dario’s neck. Dario sits up and now it’s “To Be Continued”

Final Thoughts:

This show ruled, and there’s no two ways about it. We kicked things off with an absolute banger, as Fenix and Dragon Azteca nearly stole the show, and Melissa played her role well, seemingly writing her off (for the time being). The Guerrero stuff was to buy some time, and got a cheap pop, it was fine. Next we had the Death Match, which let Mack shine as a babyface, and ultimately pick up the win over Mil Muertes, who isn’t the same as he once was. After that was the Sacrifice to the Gods match, and like I said, it was quite gimmicky, but was well done, and the crowd loved it. From there was the main event, which RULED. Those two put on one of the bloodiest and most violent brawls I’ve seen in Lucha Underground. After Pentagon became a two time Lucha Underground Champion, he was met by Vampiro, and Vampiro’s master?! So many questions! This allowed for Strong to cash in, and now it’s time for him, Agent Winter, Antonio Cueto, and STU BENNETT to take over the world. Everything that happened after the main event was the typical farewell for Lucha Underground, and let’s recap real quick. The Azteca, Cuerno, and Aerostar trio that was hyped up at the start of the season (trailer) was finally put together, and it allowed for Black Lotus to KILL MATANZA. Strong took control of the gauntlet, and then established the faction I mentioned earlier. The creepy doll got to the head of Taya, as she says she’s not really Mundo’s wife. Then to top it all off, Aerostar brought Dario Cueto back to life?! Please bring this show back for a 5th Season, it’s impossible not to with an ending like that. It was an absolute blast covering the season, and this was one of, if not the best Ultima Lucha finales ever.

Final Rating: 8.3/10
