Kenny Omega DEF. Pac

Highlights:

  • There’s a long list of moves that made this match so good. Starting with Kenny Omega’s over the top Swanton, Pac being caught in a backflip and turning into a swinging DDT, the avalanche brainbuster, or the shooting star press through the table.
  • When most wrestlers participate in an ironman match they have a tendency to become easier to pin or submit. Here this match went down to the bitter end with both men refusing to give up and tying at 1-1. As a bonus, both men remain two of the toughest members of AEW’s roster.
  • Sudden Death! was it a little cliche? yes, but I’ll take that over them needing another match to finish what they did here.

Low Points:

  • Why is this the match that they put on first? This should have gone on much closer to the end.
  • What was the point of having Orange Cassidy come out? if it’s to make us hate PAC no need. He’s already a good heel.

Jurassic Express DEF. Santana and Ortiz w/ Sammy Guevara

Highlights:

  • Jurassic Express is one of the better trios in AEW. Their superkick sequence is one of the highlights of this match.
  • Every time Sammy Guevara steps in the ring he puts on a show whether he wins or loses. this week was no exception.

Low Points:

  • The Suplex transfer would be impressive if we hadn’t seen them do the same maneuver during the Jericho cruise.
  • Darby Allin’s interference. So are they still faces if a heel tactic won the match for them?
  • Okay! can we stop treating Marko like a human wrestling buddy? every match he’s in he gets tossed around or ends up being beaten up. I get he’s small but so are many other wrestlers and they don’t get the same treatment.

The Best Friends DEF. The Butcher and The Blade

Highlights:

  • Trent launching off the ropes looked painful and really sold me on how painful those ropes must be.
  • Orange Cassidy’s bit with the Bunny. Orange seldom puts in any effort and by not getting mad and playing along he ends up winning the match for The Best Friends.
  • Trent’s swinging DDT was probably the move of the match

Low Points:

  • The Best Friends come off as almost too naive sometimes. The Butcher and The Blade are going to cheat but they still play fair. If it wasn’t for Orange Cassidy I’m sure they would have lost.
  • Red Hot Tag Team? not with their win-loss record.

Hikaru Shida DEF. Yuka Sakazaki, Big Swole, and Shana

Highlights:

  • The Strength contest between Big Swole, Hikaru Shida and Shana. Having Yuka interrupt it was a nice bit of comedy.
  • Shana’s double Huricarana. Shana’s pulled off some creative moves in the past two weeks and it’s always worth seeing what she’ll do.

Low Points:

  • Big Swole seemed sluggish during certain points of the match or like she had tripped up.
  • Hikaru Shida getting hit after jumping off the chair was telegraphed.
  • A knee strike is what wins the match? maybe the double pin would have been a better spot.
  • Women’s matches have been getting better but this feels like a step back.

Jon Moxley Chris Jericho Weigh-in

Highlights:

  • That WCW line was pretty funny.
  • Returning to an old favorite with the dipping dots.

Low Points:

  • Weigh-ins are like weddings in wrestling. Anytime it happens you know it’s going to end in a fight.
  • Another week and Jon still doesn’t think to bring back up?
