Beyond Wrestling “GIGANTIC” Review

If you’ve listened to me on podcasts or follow me on Twitter, you’re aware of how much I love “hosses” in wrestling. Of course when it comes to a Hoss, size matters, but it certainly isn’t everything. There’s a finesse, a style, a type of “smash mouth” aggression that comes with carrying the title of being a Hoss. You could only imagine my excitement when Beyond Wrestling announced a show called “GIGANTIC”, in which they would showcase some of the most noteworthy hosses in wrestling today. Ironically, the show would…

Alpha-1 Wrestling: The Purge Review

Taped from Hamilion, Ontario Alpha-1 Zero Gravity Championship: Alessandro del Bruno(c) vs. Mike Bailey I love that this secondary title has been the opener of the last two shows. It’s a great way to draw in fans right away. The concept of this show is chaos and no rules in honor of The Purge, a series of horror films popularized in the United States. Del Bruno became the champion last month. Huge boot to the chest by Bailey immediately. Del Bruno offers a handshake, goes for a boot of his…

Beyond Wrestling “State of the Art” Review

The matinee show for Beyond Wrestling’s debut at the Aurora in Providence, RI was a success, but the evening show was even more stacked. With debuts, triumphant returns, and some intriguing first time matches, Beyond was poised to score a homerun with two critically successful sold-out shows on the same day. Would that come to pass? The show kicked off with the winners of Tournament For Tomorrow 3 (Team Tremendous) battling the winners of Tournament For Tomorrow 4 (Da Hit Squad), who have been at the top of the tag…

AIW “Keep the Change, You Filthy Animal” Review

AIW closed out its year with a Home Alone themed show, fit for the holiday season. Befitting the end of the year, this show looked to potentially close out some feuds and set some momentum for 2016. The show started off with a strong four-corner tag team match. The Beaver Boys had some fun, with Jon Silver tossing around the Dudes on TV. Flip Kendrick and the returning Facade (sigh) brought the flips, as did Lucky 13 of the Nation of Intoxication, who along with Danny Havoc had some fun…

AIW “Battle of the Sexes 2” Review

AIW’s “Battle of the Sexes” concept was one I really enjoyed last year. In a landscape where intergender wrestling is a particularly polarizing topic and subject to scrutiny for ethical reasons (not by me, per se), it was certainly admirable for AIW to at least attempt the concept of an all intergender card. Last year’s show was not only seemingly a critical success, but also the best selling video release from AIW in 2014. That said, it was no surprise that AIW decided to bring back the concept this year….
