ROH 12/02/16 Final Battle Review

ROH 12/02/16 Final Battle Review NYC, New York Hammerstein Ballroom Full disclosure before I begin this review: I was live in attendance for Ring of Honor’s return to the Hammerstein Ballroom for Final Battle. This is one of my favorite venues to see a wrestling event and to say that I was a thrall to frenetic anticipation would be an understatement. Also, I had four shots of espresso before the show. Take that for what you will as you read on. Cheeseburger & Will Ferrara vs. The Tempura Boyz (Sho…

ROH 9/24/16 TV Review Las Vegas, Nevada Sam’s Town The show this week was the last episode before the PPV next week and Kevin Kelly was happy to remind us that All Star Extravaganza is a week away. First Match: “Last Real Man” Silas Young vs. Toru Yano SIlas Young came down to the ring, a bit more ornery than usual, as he yelled at a young child who was celebrating his birthday. Yano came out next, spitting his water at Young, try to make the much more serious Young…

ROH 6.12.2016 TV Review

ROH-6.15.2016-Review This week’s show is another taping from the War of the Worlds tour from Toronto, Canada. First Match Moose (with Stokely Hathaway) vs. Tetsuya Naito in a Non Title Match: Mark Briscoe added a fun third voice during this match, analyzing the match from a former competitor’s viewpoint alongside Nigel McGuinness and Kevin Kelly. Naito started the match off engaging Moose in a game of cat and mouse and he refused to lock up as he didn’t feel ready yet. Despite his clearly heel tactics, even laying down and mocking…

Beyond Wrestling “CRITICAL! Acclaim” Review

“Feeding Frenzy” was a packed show, for better and worse. It gave a lot for fans to sink their teeth into, but as William Shakesman once said “brevity is the soul of wit.” Between the matches, stories, promos, and other whatnot, it was a good, yet heavy show. Beyond seemed to have learned their lesson, thinning out the card and emphasizing certain stories as opposed to throwing too much at once for fans to digest. With some exciting debuts and stories to be built upon from last month, the card…
