Filsinger Games is celebrating the release of 50 game editions of Champions of the Galaxy with a new collectible starter set. The iconic wrestling game was originally introduced in 1986.

Filsinger Games will commemorate this game milestone by releasing a new stand-alone starter set called Tournament of Champions in late September. The new starter set is Champions of the Galaxy’s greatest hits. Game players will be able to answer the burning question: “Who is the real Champion of the Galaxy?” by pitting the greatest fighters in galactic history against each other.

Champions of the Galaxy is a tabletop cards and dice game that can also be played as an online simulation and features the concept of professional wrestling in the future on a galactic scale.

The new starter set will feature 16 all-time game legends such as Star Warrior, Thantos, and Wolf, as well as current superstars such as Endgame, Monolith, and the Aethran Overmaster, and plenty in between.

Plus there will be three bonus cards including a new character, Orrus the Unstoppable, as well as a facsimile of the original black and white game card for Wolf that was released in 1986. Talk about celebrating in style!

The game handbook includes a historical overview of Champions of the Galaxy. Also included will be biographies for characters featured in the new starter set.

“This is a celebration, a party,” says creator Tom Filsinger. “How many games have released 50 game editions? Not many. It’s a tribute to our longtime fans and new fans.”

Champions of the Galaxy was first advertised in the pages of Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine in August, 1986, and annual expansions have followed ever since. The 50th edition of the game series, Origins 2136, was released in July.

The new starter set, Champions of the Galaxy: Tournament of Champions is slated to begin mailing in late September. This collectible starter set will have a limited print run of 250 copies.
