New Japan Pro Wrestling star Lio Rush held a Q&A session on his Instagram account today. When asked the question of if he sees himself returning to the indies, he responded, “Honestly, the independent wrestling scene seems incredibly saturated right now. A lot of opportunity, but the injury risk is high and the demand for more, intense, high energy action is more than what I’m currently willing to put my body through. I love the indies. Maybe one day.”

The last time Lio Rush competed for an independent wrestling promotion was at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s Battle of Los Angeles 2022 back in January. After defeating Jack Cartwheel in the opening round of the tournament, Rush was injured the following night in a match against Buddy Matthews.

The official diagnosis was that Rush dislocated his left shoulder. Since then he made his return to wrestling at NJPW’s Capital Collision on May 14th for the first time since his injury. Only time will tell if Lio Rush returns to the independent wrestling scene.
